Anthony stood frozen, speechless.
Kerry looked at him, let out a soft sigh, and walked away, leaning heavily on his cane.
Seeing Kerry about to leave, Anthony panicked and tried to rush forward. Two bodyguards stepped in right away, cutting him off dead in his tracks.
“Grandpa, I know I was wrong! I’m apologizing. I really mean it this time!” Anthony begged desperately, but the bodyguards had already grabbed his arms. One of them stepped forward holding something.
When Anthony saw what it was, his eyes widened in horror. His grandfather hadn’t been joking about breaking one of his hands.
“Grandpa! I know I messed up! Please, help me!”
Kerry reached the doorway without looking back. His voice was cold and flat. “I’d spare myself the guilt if I could help you out.”
Anthony froze in place. His expression turned wild and desperate. He tried to get away and run, but the two bodyguards were ready. He would pay a lot for his mistake today.

In less than half an hour, Eugene was wheeled out of the medical room. Bruce had arrived with a team, and they took Eugene back to his residence.
Chloe followed them all the way to the car. Only after confirming he was stable and watching the vehicle drive away did she finally relax.
“Aren’t you going with him?” Landon asked.
Chloe snapped.back to the present. She answered, “My son is waiting for me at home. I’m not going. When Eugene wakes up, please relay this to him for me—thank him for today’s help.”
Landon let out a low, amused chuckle, nodding lightly. “I’ll have my assistant take you back. And I’ll pass along your message—word for word.”
Darin drove Chloe back to the hotel.
At the hotel entrance, Chloe got out. After waving Darin off, she pulled out her phone to text Robert. Just then, her red sports car executed a perfect drift and stopped directly in front of her.

Chapter 155 The Cut
The window rolled down, Oralia sat in the driver’s seat, raising an eyebrow at her. “I thought someone was going to get lucky tonight.”
Chloe shot her a sidelong glance, eyes tilting playfully with a hint of teasing. “When a world- class superstar is waiting in my bed, how could I possibly stand her up?”
Oralia pressed a hand to her chest in mock emotion. “Should I pretend to cry a little?”
“Mommy, how could you cut off the feed at such a critical moment?” Robert popped his head up from the back seat, cheeks still pink with excitement as he grinned playfully at Chloe. “Mommy, be honest. How’s that Mr. Rosewood in bed?”
Upon hearing this, Chloe’s playful smile vanished, her gaze cooling instantly. She turned to Oralia. “How are you raising this kid? Where’d he pick up all this nonsense?”
Oralia spread her hands innocently, shrugging with a laugh. “Your son has an off–the–charts IQ. Of course he knows these things!”
Chloe was rendered speechless. She stepped forward, yanked open the in.

Oralia started the car. She glanced at Chloe, her eyes lingering at the corner of Chloe’s mouth. She smirked to herself but said nothing.
“Mommy, where’s the Sleep–Soothing Jade?”
Chloe took a box from her evening clutch and tossed it to Robert in the back seat.
Robert opened the small box and saw the jade resting quietly inside.
“It’s really beautiful. Is it really as magical as they say? Can it cure incurable diseases?”
“Who knows.” Chloe gave a faint smile, leaned back in her seat, and watched the scenery flashing by the car window. Suddenly, Eugene’s burning eyes appeared in her mind.
Tonight, the way he had looked at her held too much intensity—his gaze hot, barely restrained. Was the drug really that powerful? Could it even affect how he looked at her?
Thinking this, Chloe let out a self–mocking laugh. What was she even thinking?
Tonight, her goal had been the Sleep–Soothing Jade. She had it in her hands now. As for everything else… she shouldn’t overthink it.
