He Cheated I Rose: Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 156

Chapter 156: The Secret File

Eugene raised a single eyebrow, directing his gaze toward Landon. “So, what’s the latest?” he asked, his voice calm but curious.

Landon sank into a nearby armchair, maintaining his usual air of ease. “Anthony lost the use of one hand. They’ve sent him off to some remote location. Mr. Kerry Ruiz personally showed up to apologize and handed over their two biggest development projects—all in a desperate attempt to get you to go easy on the Ruiz family.”

Eugene’s lips curved into a faint smile. “With an attitude like that, how could I not cut him some slack? Honestly, I might owe Anthony a thank you.”

Noticing the slight smile, Landon frowned in disbelief. “You’re still smiling? After what you went through today? You nearly kicked the bucket—do you even realize that?”

“I’m not going anywhere,” Eugene said firmly, his voice steady with conviction.

Landon chuckled, unable to resist a bit of teasing. “Don’t get too cocky. You might be interested in her, but who knows how Ms. Lewis really feels about you.” He added with a sly grin, “And I saw you making a move on her while that drug was still affecting you.”

Eugene, caught off guard but amused, laughed aloud. “She had feelings for it.”

“What?” Landon blinked, confused.

Eugene shook his head and said, “Have someone send Mr. Slade a few bottles of quality red wine.” He closed his eyes, settling into the chair with a sigh of relief. He truly needed to rest now—not because of the drug’s lingering effects, but because Chloe’s strike had hit harder than he expected. His stomach still throbbed painfully from the impact.

That blow? Even Bruce wouldn’t have struck that forcefully.

Reflecting on the earlier accident, Eugene realized it was Chloe who had stepped in to fix things. She seemed so delicate and gentle on the surface—how could she possess such formidable fighting skills?

Clearly, there was much more to her than met the eye.

At Myers Manor…

Donald arrived at the villa carrying a file. Upstairs, Arthur was in the shower, while Jennifer sat downstairs with Jenarth, flipping through a children’s magazine.

“Ms. Williams, please give this to Mr. Myers as soon as he comes out. He specifically said it’s urgent,” Donald said earnestly.

“Of course. Don’t worry, I’ll bring it to him right away,” Jennifer replied.

“Thank you,” Donald nodded before leaving.

After he was gone, Jennifer’s eyes lingered on the envelope Donald had delivered. She felt a wave of uncertainty. The documents inside were a mystery to her, but she knew Arthur had ordered Donald to look into them immediately and deliver them without delay.

She knew she shouldn’t peek.
