The complaints grew louder, and the whole scene was close to spinning out of control.
Chloe had to step up and address the plagiarism rumors. If she was guilty, she needed to admit it. If not, she had to clear her name. Otherwise, people were ready to boycott Cosmos Group and every brand tied to it.
Landon stood ready to speak, but the crowd and online viewers were already fired up. Even if he showed Chloe’s original drafts now, they might not listen.
His expression darkened. Just as he was about to speak, a light, calm voice cut through the noise.
“Sorry for the wait.”
At the sound of her voice, every camera swung toward the stage.
Landon stayed put, his gaze on the assembled media and fans. From the surprise in their eyes, he instantly recognized who was behind him.
The tension in his face eased, and a faint smile touched his lips. Without a word, he moved aside, giving her the spotlight.
Chloe stepped forward under the bright lights. Dressed in all black with a pale flower pinned to her chest, she looked striking–like a spirit emerging from the shadows.
Beautiful and haunting. Impossible to ignore.
People at the scene were captivated by her presence, while the live chat blew up with
comments.
[Forget the plagiarism–look at her face! She’s unreal. Even movie stars don’t look that flawless on camera. Is she entering the entertainment industry? I’d support her!]
[She’s so stunning, I’d forgive her if she just apologized publicly.]

But the reporters on–site weren’t distracted for long. As soon as Chloe appeared, they focused their lenses on her.
Lonny from Tranquil Vision didn’t waste any time. “Chloe, you think hiding will make this go away? If you don’t apologize and give Tranquil Vision an explanation, I’m not going anywhere.” He dragged a chair over and dropped into it heavily.
Linda shot a subtle signal, and Lisa spoke up right after. “Chloe, you promised to clarify everything at this press conference. Why were you late?”

Fuished
Chloe glanced at the large digital clock on the Cosmos News Center building behind her. She was only five minutes late.
“My apologies for the delay,” she said calmly. “On my way here, a stray dog wouldn’t stop. barking at me. It held me up, and it felt unlucky, so I went home to change.”
Down below, Arthur had just reached the stairs when he heard her words. His face darkened instantly.
A stray dog? Was she talking about him?
Anger burned inside him. How dare she mock him like that in front of everyone? He wanted to rush the stage and pull her down.
He’d make sure she paid for this.
How could she act so boldly?
Arthur moved to step forward, but someone caught his wrist.
He turned and saw Jennifer. His expression tightened.
“Jennifer, what are you doing here?”
“Arthur, don’t be reckless. If you go up there now, you’ll just end up trending online with Chloe. Are you trying to announce your divorce to the whole world?” Jennifer’s tone was firm.
Arthur froze, his anger cooling slightly.
