Sarah stood frozen, completely stunned. She turned to Arthur, her voice trembling slightly. “Mr. Myers, are you really going to discard all of Mrs. Myers‘ valuable belongings? Those items are worth…”

“If she said to throw them out, then throw them out,” Arthur cut in sharply, his usual CEO composure completely gone. “And make sure everyone knows–from today, Chloe is forbidden from ever entering this house again.”

He knew exactly what those possessions were–every single piece had been bought by him for Chloe. In those days, she had been the ideal wife–quiet, obedient, never interfering in his affairs.

She was so compliant back then. Every year, he had gifted her custom–designed jewelry, each piece worth a fortune. Altogether, they amounted to tens of millions, perhaps even more.

And now she wanted the housemaids to treat it all like garbage.

A cold smirk crossed his face, his eyes flashing with disdain.

Trying to play hard to get? She was taking it too far.

Just wait, Chloe. Don’t come crying to me later.

Outside the villa, Chloe stepped into the waiting car.

“He signed. The rest is in your hands now.” Settling into the back seat, she handed the divorce papers to Zachary, who was in the driver’s seat.

Zachary accepted them with a confident smile. “Don’t worry. Custody of Robert will definitely be yours.”

Robert set down his tablet and looked up at Chloe, his voice soft but concerned. “Mom, even though Big Jerk signed the papers, there’s still the cooling–off period. What if he changes his mind and refuses to go through with it in the end?”

Chloe’s lips curved into a faint, knowing smile. She had already considered this possibility.

Her mind was set on divorce–she wouldn’t give him any chance to back out.

“He won’t have the opportunity to regret it.”

Pulling out her phone, she scrolled through her contacts until she found a long–unused number and

dialed.

The phone rang several times before a cool, composed woman’s voice answered.

“What is it?”

Chloe’s smile widened. “Mrs. Madilyn Myers, Arthur and I are officially divorced!”

Back inside the villa, Arthur’s anger had not subsided even after signing the divorce agreement.

He called the hospital to check on Charles‘ condition, but the news was not encouraging.

Charles remained in a coma. Given his advanced age, his bodily functions were gradually declining. The doctors estimated he might only have a few months left–six at most.

Countless specialists had been consulted, but none could offer a solution. The chances of him waking up

were slim.

Hanging up the phone, Arthur felt heavier than ever. Charles‘ life was fading, and as his grandson, he couldn’t help but worry. If Grandpa were to wake up, the first thing he’d ask about would be whether Chloe and I have reconciled–maybe even whether we’re planning to have another child!

Charles used to bring it up almost every day. Now? Arthur let out a bitter laugh. And here’s Chloe, throwing a fit and demanding a divorce. I’ve already shown her more than enough respect.

Even if Charles found out, it wouldn’t be his fault. He had tried to compromise–it was Chloe who refused to yield.

Divorce… She had actually gone through with it. Could she even survive in their social circle without him? What skills did she really have?

All she’d ever done was play the housewife and enjoy the luxuries I provided. Did she really think she could land a decent job and support Robert on her own?

The thought of Robert picking up her defiant attitude and talking back to him made his blood boil. She was just a country girl at heart–never cut out for this world.

In their entire social circle, only Charles had ever spoken highly of Chloe. Who else had a good word to say about her?

He scoffed quietly.

For a moment, Arthur regretted not refusing Charles‘ marriage arrangement from the start. If he had stood his ground, his wife could have been someone thoughtful, reasonable–and, most importantly, respected by all.

“Arthur!”

A gentle voice pulled him from his thoughts. He looked up to see Jennifer approaching.
