**A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain by Adrian Hale**
**Chapter 221: Carolyn’s LV Giveaway?**
Emily stood to the side, her heart racing as she silently wished that Chloe would keep her hands off the fruit. The vibrant colors of the assorted fruits were tempting, but she knew better than to let Chloe indulge in the lavish offerings that Carolyn had so carefully curated.
To Emily’s relief, Chloe didn’t even glance at the so-called “special supply” that Carolyn had made such a fuss over. Instead, she seemed more interested in the unfolding drama than in the extravagant display of fruits.
“Chloe… I must admit, I’m genuinely surprised to see you here today. This is my first significant role in a major production, and you came to visit the set right away. It really means a lot to me,” Carolyn said, her voice tinged with a mix of excitement and vulnerability.
Chloe met Carolyn’s gaze with a playful smirk, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Did I ever say I came here just for you?” she teased, her tone light and airy.
Carolyn felt a sharp retort bubble up inside her, but the unexpectedness of Chloe’s words caught her off guard, leaving her momentarily speechless.
“Honestly, it seems like you’ve been putting on a one-woman show this entire time—completely entertaining yourself. With your talent, only snagging the second female lead? What a waste,” Robert chimed in, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “The Oscars are seriously missing out by not handing you a golden statue.”
Carolyn’s expression soured instantly, her cheeks flushing with indignation.
How dare this little brat speak to her in such a condescending manner? Was Chloe teaching him to be this rude?
She shot a piercing glare at Chloe, her patience wearing thin. “Chloe, what exactly do you mean by that? If you didn’t come here to see me, then who is it for?”
Her eyes darted toward the stark divide separating the VIP area from the rest zone, her voice rising in frustration. “You only managed to squeeze your way into the VIP lounge because I pulled some serious strings for you. Now you’re saying you didn’t even come for me? What does that even mean?”
Her tone dripped with haughty disdain, as if she owned the entire place. She had gone out of her way to facilitate Chloe and Robert’s entry, and now they had the audacity to talk back? They were nothing but ungrateful brats.
If she wanted to, she could summon security right then and there. Let’s see if they’d still be so bold once they were tossed out.
“The lounge staff brought us here. What does it matter to you?” Robert stepped forward, completely unfazed by Carolyn’s ire. “You think you’re such a big deal—you can just snap your fingers and get a VIP lounge, right? So why aren’t you in there?”
Carolyn felt her cheeks burn with embarrassment. Here she was, standing next to her number-one fan, Emily, and this kid had the nerve to imply she wasn’t important enough for the VIP area.
“I’m the second female lead in *Rebirth*,” Carolyn retorted, her voice laced with indignation. “The crew treats everyone equally—there’s no special treatment. The VIP lounge is reserved for two people: Brian and the female lead, Oralia. Even the male lead hangs out in the regular lounge. I don’t need the VIP spot. But you two… I arranged this out of kindness, and this is how you repay me? I’m genuinely heartbroken.”
With a flourish, she pulled out her phone, ready to make a call that would cut off their access.
“If you don’t appreciate my arrangement, I can cancel it right now,” she declared, her fingers already tapping furiously on the screen.
