He Cheated I Rose: Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 276

**A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain by Adrian Hale**
**Chapter 276: The Cleaner’s Lie**

“Dad, I can’t believe how much I humiliated myself today! It was utterly mortifying! I refuse to become a cleaner. If you force me into that role, I’d rather not exist at all. And when Mom hears about the way they treated me, she will be absolutely furious!” Carolyn exclaimed, her voice trembling with a mix of frustration and indignation.

“Are you done with your little tirade?” Scott shot back, his tone cutting through the air like a knife. “Chloe set you up, and you walked right into her trap. If you hadn’t been such a source of trouble and hurt for others, what could she possibly have done to you? You never take a moment to reflect on your own actions—you just keep pointing fingers at everyone else. You want to be part of the company, but do you even have a clue what Lewis Group does? Do you understand how the business is performing?”

“I…” Carolyn stammered, her throat tightening as she struggled to find the words. The truth was, she had no idea what the company was about.

In her mind, she envisioned senior executives lounging around in plush offices, casually flipping through reports. Why should she bother with the nitty-gritty details?

She looked at Scott, her eyes wide with disbelief that he would reprimand her so fiercely over a few careless words. It was a shocking moment—the first time he had ever raised his voice at her.

“Dad…” she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper, a creeping fear coiling in her stomach.

For a fleeting instant, she genuinely feared he might strike her—not just a light slap, but a real blow.

“If you truly want to stick around at Lewis Group and contribute in any meaningful way, you need to start from the very bottom. Being a cleaner is not beneath you. We’ve coddled you for far too long, and look how that’s turned out—selfish and sharp-tongued. You need to learn some humility. It’s time to smooth out those rough edges,” Scott said, leaning back in his chair, his eyes closing as if he were trying to block her out.

“If you decide to take the job, you better take it seriously. Even cleaning requires a sense of responsibility. If you refuse to go, then just stay home. But don’t dare show your face at Lewis Group again and embarrass me like that,” he concluded, his voice leaving no room for argument.

Carolyn was left speechless, her mind racing. Was he genuinely suggesting she become a cleaner?

She was Carolyn Lewis—the heiress of the family. The very idea of her becoming a cleaner felt like a cruel joke.

She wanted to argue, to fight back against this ridiculous notion, but Scott had already closed his eyes, his expression signaling that the conversation was over. All she could do was slump back in her seat, a storm of anger brewing inside her.

A cleaner! This had to be Chloe’s doing.

That conniving witch—this was far from over.
