He Cheated I Rose: Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 277

**Title: A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain by Adrian Hale**

**Chapter 277: Madilyn’s Regret**

The situation was dire. Eugene had yet to take any action. Ever since the whispers began circulating about Chloe being Arthur’s mistress, he should have put an end to it immediately. Yet, he remained passive, like a statue frozen in time.

This was not how it was supposed to be.

The woman he adored was being viciously attacked by cruel, unfounded rumors, and he was simply sitting back and watching? If I were in his shoes, I would have dismantled that gossip site in a heartbeat.

“Not yet,” Eugene replied, his tone cool and collected. He lit a cigarette, reclined on the sofa, and inhaled deeply, letting the smoke escape his lips in a delicate plume.

Landon observed him, his agitation growing by the second. “It’s already spiraling out of control. Sure, Chloe might seem composed, but how can you remain so unfazed? And what about Chloe? Her sleazy ex and his new girlfriend are practically at her doorstep, taunting her. She’s still refusing to take action. I’m itching to step in and confront them myself.”

Eugene let out a low, derisive laugh. “Let them have their fun. The higher they climb, the more spectacular their fall will be.” He crushed the cigarette with a decisive motion, the remnants scattering like his patience.

As Eugene rose from his seat, Landon rushed after him, urgency in his voice. “Where do you think you’re going? If you tie yourself to Chloe now, the entire internet will uncover your identity. Your life will be an open book. And then—”

“Focus on the arrangements,” Eugene interrupted, his voice firm. “When my parents arrive in Capaville, show them around. Let them experience the local atmosphere. Ask the younger staff where the best food is, and take them to try everything.”

“What?” Landon stumbled, nearly colliding with him. He regained his footing just in time, bewildered by Eugene’s nonchalance.

He stood there, dumbfounded, watching Eugene walk away with an air of confidence that only seemed to deepen Landon’s confusion. What was he planning?

Was he truly considering going public for Chloe? But he hadn’t even won her heart yet.

Landon frowned, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. If Eugene revealed his true identity now, the entire social scene in Capaville would erupt. Everyone believed the wealthiest man in town was an unattractive foreigner in his sixties. In reality, he was young, incredibly wealthy, strikingly handsome—and utterly infatuated with a woman named Chloe.

This was a disaster waiting to happen!

Perhaps it would be best for him to seek work overseas. At least there, he could find some semblance of freedom.
