Donald took the files and left immediately. Arthur watched him go, hesitated for a second, then quickly followed. He decided to go to the hospital himself.

“Arthur!” Jennifer called out, forcing a smile. “I bought new bedding. Don’t you want to come upstairs and see it?”

Arthur looked at her, his eyes turning cold. “Jennifer, this online drama is getting out of hand. What do you have to say about it?”

Jennifer froze. Her nerves tightened.

“Arthur, what did you just say?” Madilyn cut in, pulling the conversation back. “You said your grandfather might wake up. What exactly does that mean?”

Arthur turned to his mother, who stood there looking shocked. “Mom, Grandpa might wake up. Is that so hard to understand? Why do you look like that? Don’t you want him to wake up?”

Madilyn snapped out of it. She forced a smile, looking guilty under his stare. “Arthur, what are you talking about? Of course I’m happy!”

She rushed over and grabbed his hand, pretending to be excited. “How is Charles? It’s been so long. The doctors always said surgery was too risky. Why the sudden change? And why do they need his old medication records? What does that have to do with the operation?”

“Dr. Palma himself will perform the surgery. This is our only chance. He needs to review Grandpa’s medication history to plan the next steps.” Arthur finished, then turned his attention back to Jennifer. “Right now, nothing is more important than Grandpa’s surgery. I’ve seen what’s happening online.”

Jennifer stayed silent, just staring at him, confused.

“Jennifer, our plans will have to wait. The surgery comes first.” Arthur’s voice turned sharp. “And

I hope you had nothing to do with what’s spreading online.”

With that, he left without looking back.

Jennifer stood frozen. His cold, detached tone felt like ice through her veins.

If he ends up hating you, that’s your own fault.” Madilyn’s voice was cold. “If Arthur decides to clear Chloe’s name and reveals they were once married, the internet will figure out you started this. You’ll be the one they tear apart.”

Jennifer laughed.

“So what? Even if the wedding is delayed, Arthur still has to marry me. Even if he hates me, he has no choice.”

“You-” Madilyn gritted her teeth, hatred flashing in her eyes.

Jennifer smiled coolly. “He won’t refuse. Don’t worry.”

“You-” She stared at her, wishing she could tear Jennifer apart now.

“Remember this–you’re on my side now. It’s just me and Jenarth. You have to stand with us. Or you know what will happen.” After saying this, Jennifer walked upstairs with a swagger.

Madilyn stood there, swallowing her anger. She couldn’t waste time on Jennifer now. Something more urgent needed her attention. She had to get to the hospital and find out what was really going on.

How could Charles possibly wake up?
