He Cheated I Rose: Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 315

**A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain**
**by Adrian Hale**
**Chapter 315: Deadly Liberation**

Jennifer’s laughter echoed softly at first, a low, triumphant sound that gradually intensified, reverberating through the dimly lit room with an unsettling resonance. It was as if the very walls were absorbing her glee, amplifying the sinister nature of her victory.

The man struggled to rise, his body betraying him as strength seeped away like water through a sieve. When he tried to voice his confusion, only a strained, desperate gasp emerged. In that moment, the realization hit him like a thunderclap—he had unwittingly walked into Jennifer’s meticulously laid trap.

“When… did you…?” he managed to croak, propping himself against the stained mattress, his disbelief palpable as he locked eyes with her.

Jennifer had always been the obedient one, the docile partner. Why was she so different today?

He had been vigilant, careful not to consume anything she had touched, convinced he was safe. But how had she managed to poison him?

“Did I smell good to you?” Jennifer stepped forward, her foot pressing down firmly against his chest, a smirk playing on her lips. “You always adored my scent, didn’t you? Every kiss you planted was laced with something that was meant to drag you straight to hell. Heh… it didn’t come cheap, either. Took me ages to source it from the underground market. Today, it’s finally fulfilled its purpose.”

“You thought you could keep blackmailing me? A worthless piece of trash like you?” she continued, her voice dripping with disdain as she increased the pressure under her foot. “Today… I’m breaking free. Permanently.”

The horror in his eyes deepened, realization dawning upon him like a dark cloud. She had infused her own skin with poison. Every kiss, every caress—he had unwittingly sealed his own doom.

A furious glare ignited in his eyes as he attempted to lift a hand toward her, but his muscles betrayed him; his arm fell uselessly to the side.

“You… you…” he stammered, words barely forming.

“You make me sick. From the moment you deceived me all those years ago, I’ve longed for your death,” Jennifer declared, grinding her heel into his chest with a vicious intensity. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, yet her expression remained unyielding, icy. “Only when you’re gone will my secrets finally be buried.

“The dead don’t speak. No one will ever uncover the truth about my past.” Her laughter rang out again, sharp and unhinged, filling the air with a manic energy. “You’ll turn to dust. You’ll become nothing.”

With a final shudder, the man’s hand fell limp, his face twisting into a last grimace of hatred, but he had no strength left to fight.

As the poison coursed through his veins, he choked, spewing a mouthful of dark blood before falling still—his eyes wide open, staring vacantly into nothingness.

Jennifer looked down at him, lifeless and still as stone, and let out a harsh, triumphant cackle that reverberated through the empty room. “You bastard! Damn you! Damn you straight to hell… You should’ve died years ago! Without you, I could’ve been living a life of glitz and glamour—you’re the reason I’m stuck in this gutter!”

With a fierce determination, she drove her stiletto heels into his body repeatedly, the sharp points piercing flesh with brutal force. Blood pooled beneath her shoes, transforming the floor into a dark, sticky canvas, but she did not relent. She pounded her heels into his corpse, teeth bared, as if she could bludgeon every last ounce of rage and resentment out of her very bones.

Eventually, exhaustion began to weigh heavily upon her limbs. She stumbled back, her chest heaving as she glared at the grotesque scene at her feet—blood, torn clothing, the hollow shell of the man who had ruined her life—her disgust unbridled.

“You… don’t even deserve to be remembered.” With that, she pulled out the lighter she had been clutching so tightly that her knuckles had turned white. With a swift flick, she opened it with a sharp click and tossed it into the mountain of takeout garbage piled in the corner.
