He Cheated I Rose: Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 346

**A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain by Adrian Hale**

**Chapter 346: The Prodigal Daughter’s Return**

Scott stepped through the threshold of his home, still engaged in a phone call that seemed to consume him entirely. The moment the name “Chloe” slipped from his lips, Monique and Carolyn, who had been lounging comfortably on the sofa, straightened up in unison. A shared glance passed between them, one filled with unspoken questions and concerns.

Carolyn shot a quick, apprehensive look at her mother before redirecting her focus to Scott. He was oblivious to the subtle tension in the room, completely engrossed in the conversation. His footsteps carried him toward the window, where he spoke in a low, fervent tone, as if he were confiding in a trusted friend.

“Chloe, just this once—please. You have to come to the celebration,” Scott implored, his voice tinged with a desperation that hinted at how much this event meant to him. It was almost as if he was teetering on the edge of begging, and the weight of his words hung in the air.

After a moment’s pause, a flicker of excitement ignited in his expression. It seemed Chloe had relented, and a smile broke across his face.

“Alright, Chloe. Don’t worry about a thing—the secretariat will take care of all the arrangements. All you need to do is show up at the event in three days,” he replied eagerly, gripping the phone with renewed fervor. “Oh, and one more thing… if it’s at all possible, could you bring Lawrence from Cosmos Group along with you?”

A positive response must have come through the line, as Scott’s enthusiasm bubbled over.

“That’s fantastic if Lawrence can make it! I’ll personally oversee everything for the Lewis Group celebration—you have my word,” he assured her, his voice brimming with anticipation before he finally ended the call.

Even after hanging up, Scott’s face radiated joy. “This is just perfect,” he murmured to himself, the words barely audible but filled with glee.

Monique observed him, her expression cooling as she absorbed the childlike excitement radiating from him. She subtly glanced at Carolyn, silently urging her to break the silence.

Taking her mother’s cue, Carolyn raised her voice, “Dad!”

Startled, Scott turned, his gaze landing on the two women on the sofa. Instantly, his demeanor shifted, the warmth of his previous conversation evaporating as a stern look settled on his face. “Carolyn, why aren’t you at the office today?”

“I took the day off, Dad. I’m not going in,” Carolyn replied, her irritation bubbling beneath the surface. After all, she was finally enjoying a rare moment of freedom, and yet all he seemed to care about was her absence from work. It struck her as almost absurd—the daughter of the CEO of the Lewis Group, relegated to cleaning duties while her father pressed her for answers.
