Since she couldn’t count on that man, she would have to rely on herself.

On the day of the Lewis Group celebration, the entire hotel had been reserved for the event. Guests began arriving steadily throughout the afternoon. Scott, accompanied by senior executives and key shareholders of Lewis Group, was already present to welcome them.
Scott planned to announce during the banquet that Chloe was not only a daughter of the Lewis family but would also officially assume the role of VP of Lewis Group.
“Mr. Lewis, your daughter is remarkably capable for her age–she’s even more impressive than you!” remarked Gordon as he approached, speaking with genuine admiration. “I’ve witnessed Ms. Lewis‘ abilities firsthand. If she takes the helm in the future, Lewis Group will be in excellent hands.”
Scott responded with a modest smile.
“She truly is exceptional. I have high hopes for her. In fact, I intend to make another important announcement at the banquet.”
Hearing this, Gordon’s eyes brightened. Other shareholders nearby also gathered around, eager to learn in advance what Scott planned to reveal.
He had already promoted Chloe from acting VP to executive VP. Wasn’t that enough? What else could Scott possibly announce?
Curiosity peaked among the group as they fixed their eyes on Scott, waiting for him to disclose his plans.
But Scott only smiled faintly and calmly informed them, “If I tell you now, it won’t be much of an announcement. I’ll share it during the celebration.”
“Come on, Mr. Lewis, there’s no harm in giving us a hint. Let us old–timers share in the excitement a little early!”
“Exactly–you’ve already got us wondering. It’s less than an hour until the event. What difference would it make to tell us now?”
Scott didn’t elaborate further. With a knowing smile, he excused himself and moved on.
The group of shareholders grew even more intrigued and began speculating among themselves.
Chloe had already been appointed VP, and her identity as a Lewis daughter was about to be publicly confirmed. What else could Scott be holding back for the climax of the evening?

“Any guesses what Mr. Lewis is keeping under wraps? This Chloe really is something. His opinion of her has completely turned around.”
“My guess is he’s preparing to name her as his successor.”
“His successor? We’ve all seen what she’s capable of. If she can lead us to greater success, I’d gladly support her as the future head of Lewis Group.”
“You’re right. I feel the same. We may not know the full extent of her abilities, but securing a partnership with an international giant like Cosmos Group–along with that fifty–billion–dollar investment–speaks for itself. Why doubt her now?”
“I don’t mind who’s in charge, as long as they help us make money!”
The group shared a laugh, clearly in agreement with the sentiment.
Ernesto, standing not far away, overheard the conversation clearly. He didn’t approach or interrupt. His expression remained neutral, betraying no emotion.
As long as someone could make them money, they’d follow that person.
These old–school guys were sharp. Well, at least it made things easier for him.
More and more guests arrived at the celebration, and the start of the event drew nearer.
Representatives from various prominent families made their entrance one after another. Scott personally greeted each of them. When the Myers family arrived, they attracted considerable attention–especially since it was Charles himself leading the group.
There had been rumors about Charles waking from his coma, and this was the first public appearance confirming his recovery. He seemed to be in good health.
Seeing Charles arrive in person, Scott went over to greet him warmly.
