Chapter 133
The party was held at a villa. Stella looked a lot better than before. She didn’t walk awkwardly anymore. Every outfit she wore was custom made by Jordan, but Stella didn’t realize that. She thought he’d just hired a stylist.
Jordan took her measurements himself each time. He seemed pretty skilled. Stella never asked and assumed he just sent the sizes to a stylist.
Every time she put on those clothes, she felt comfortable. She walked in with Jordan. Everyone remembered what happened at the Chamber of Commerce last time, so no one dared to be rude to them.
Everyone greeted them politely. Stella wasn’t surprised. Most of the time, respect had to be earned. Jordan smiled and whispered in her ear, “Looks like you’ve gotten as tough as me.”
Stella didn’t care and said, “People think I’m easy to push around. I’ll show them if that’s true. If respect comes that way, I don’t mind taking it.”
Jordan looked at Stella and saw her glowing more and more. Her inner light was shining through. It was great. Even though her eyes didn’t have the same sparkle as before, her spirit had come back.
Soon, two familiar people arrived. When they stood together, everyone froze. Even though people knew Anna had run off with another guy, seeing the eldest son of the Johnson family shocked everyone.
The Johnson family’s status was way above the Hayes family’s. Even though Monroe was an illegitimate son, he still needed to marry someone of equal standing. It couldn’t be Anna.
Nobody understood what was going on. Monroe rarely showed up at events like this. Now that he was here, everyone wanted to talk to him.
Wherever Monroe went, he proudly introduced Anna as his girlfriend. With Monroe around, no one dared ask tough questions. Everyone just
smiled and congratulated them.
Nobody expected Lionel to show up. Lionel had officially taken over the Quinn group, so attending social events was part of the job.
He came alone, no date. Everyone naturally looked at the twin daughters of the Hayes family. People already knew Lionel and Stella were close and assumed they’d end up together.
Stella had her misfortune. Lionel was seen with Anna, and it made a few people raise their eyebrows, but people understood. No one knew if or when Stella would come back. Lionel couldn’t wait forever.
But in the end, none of the Hayes sisters ended up with him, He even did that kind of thing to Stella. Now the Quinn family was in worse shape than ever. It was a sad situation.
Monroe was the first to walk up to Lionel and offer his hand. “Look, I already know about Anna. Even though you two aren’t engaged anymore, you took care of her before, and I appreciate that. If you ever need anything, just reach out.”
Though Monroe sounded polite, to Lionel it felt like a huge insult. Lionel didn’t shake his hand. Instead, he looked at it and asked, “How did she tell you?”
Monroe smiled and met Lionel’s eyes. “How she told me isn’t your business. The Quinn family isn’t doing well, I hope you focus more on fixing that. The Quinn family used to be strong. It’d be a shame to see it fall apart.”
People often said Monroe seemed polite but was ruthless. Being an illegitimate son, it was already tough for him to survive. Sure enough, everything he said had a sharp edge. It made people uncomfortable.
Lionel’s gaze landed on Anna. Anna didn’t dare look back at him. She grabbed Monroe’s arm and walked away, Monroe turned and saw

Stella.
He froze on the spot. They said the twins of the Hayes family looked alike, and Stella and Anna looked almost identical. Monroe felt that night
then.
But spending time with Anna, he noticed she was gentle and fragile, someone who needed protection. Stella’s eyes, on the other hand, were sharp and fierce. Looking at her made him uneasy.
Anna was thin but not sickly. Stella was thin in a sickly way. Stella looked at them with contempt, which made Monroe even more
uncomfortable.
Looking closer, those eyes seemed familiar. Anna noticed Monroe’s silence and quickly pulled him to introduce. “Monroe, this is my sister, Stella. Stella, this is Monroe. You heard about what happened to me, right?”
Stella gave a faint smile. “Yeah, I heard it. You left your parent and brother in the hospital, not caring whether they lived or died. If it weren’t for me, you might never see them again. How could I not know?”
Monroe couldn’t believe it. That voice sounded just like the one he heard in his dream. Anna didn’t show any sign of that voice at all.
Worried Monroe might find out too much, Anna nervously glanced at him and quickly said, “Stella, you’re misunderstanding. I’m not ignoring our parents and brother. I have my reasons.”
