Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2278

Benjamin carried the fortune of Crisea in his veins. He was the anchor of their world's fortune, the center of its very destiny.

If the Alternate Divine Power sought to replace its counterpart in this world, Benjamin's fortune as the Dragon Vein was all too crucial. He needed to stay.

Only by staying could he safeguard their world's fortune from being consumed.

He knew that deep down, but he hated how Shannon had to face everything alone, especially when what awaited her on the other side was the Alternate Divine Power itself.

No matter how he tried to reason with himself, he couldn't feel at ease.

Through the shimmering mystic light of the array, Shannon cast him one final glance. It was a look they had shared countless times before.

This time was no different. With that look, she was telling him, "Trust me."

As the array flared with mystic light, Shannon's figure vanished completely into its core. In that same breath, she entered the alternate world, and the sky above them darkened.

They had set the array atop the building for the clearest path between worlds, but now it felt like standing at the edge of a storm-swept cliff.

Shannon, however, was no stranger to these dark clouds. Knowing this was the Alternate Divine Power's "special greeting" for her, she showed no sign of panic.

Instead, she lifted her hand and hurled a streak of golden light toward the dark sky as soon as she stepped out of the array.

Almost simultaneously, a bolt of heavenly lightning surged from the gloomy clouds in retaliation. Before it could strike anything or anyone, it clashed midair with Shannon's golden light.

The sky rumbled, lightning flickered and cracked within the churning black clouds overhead.

Before Thalia and the others even had time to process how Shannon had crossed over, too, they were met with a striking sight—the radiant flare of her ten tails unfurling behind her, their glow fierce and unyielding.

At the same time, she told them, "Leave this to me and Velquin. While there's still mystic light left in the array—go. Mom, all of you. Go home."

Even if the Divine Power had targeted Mike from the start, it didn't change the fact that he had been taken while trying to bring Velquin back. That truth alone was enough to root Velquin where he stood.

With the portal now sealed, none of them thought of turning back.

Each of them lifted their eyes to the sky, steeling themselves for the storm. Suddenly, a clear and defiant voice rang out.

"Come on! What, you think we'd be scared just 'cause you dragged in a few clouds? Bring it!"

Who was that? Who had just shouted out the words that had been burning in all their chests, but none of them had dared to say?

When the group followed the source of the voice, their gazes collectively landed on Shannon.

Shannon fell silent for a few seconds. Then, she emptied her hand and pulled out an alligator snapping turtle from her back.

"Albany…" she muttered through gritted teeth, feeling a looming headache. "Why did you follow me here?"
