Lily sighed, her voice heavy. “That night’s still a nightmare. Sometimes I wake up shaking, even now.”

Freya reached out, her tone soft. “It’s over, Lily. You’re killing it now, my big-time star.”

Lily rolled her eyes. “It’s Kelly Hall now, okay? My stage name.”

“Yeah, yeah, Kelly,” Freya teased with a grin.

Lily’s eyes narrowed. “Hold on. You’re not famous. Why are you being followed? Don’t tell me Liam pissed off some big shot, and now they’re out to grab you to get to him.”

Freya shot her a look. “You’ve been in too many soap operas. Real business drama isn’t that wild.”

“So who are those women?”

Freya stared into her tea, taking a slow sip. “Liam’s people.”

Lily’s jaw dropped. “No way. He’s so jealous he’s got his crew tailing me? Your guy’s something else, Freya.”

“I’m done with him. I’m filing for divorce.”

Lily blinked, thrown off. “Whoa, what? Since when? I thought you guys were solid.”

“It’s complicated. Not a quick story,” Freya said. “But don’t worry-your secret’s safe. I never told him.”

Lily’s face softened, guilt flickering in her eyes.

Freya added, “Secrets like that… you gotta keep ’em locked tight, take ’em to the grave. Tell one person, and soon enough, everyone’s in on it.”

Freya nodded. “When it comes to your life, I don’t trust anybody.”

Her phone buzzed twice.

Ryan: [You sign the retainer and divorce papers yet?]

Freya scoffed, typing back: [Chill out, counselor. I’m dying to pack up and get outta here so you and Liam can have your bro-fest. Happy?]

Ryan: [My time’s not free. Don’t jerk me around with this divorce drama.]

Freya: [Yeah, yeah, I got you.]

Lily leaned over. “Who’s got you so mad you’re about to yeet your phone?”

“Liam’s best bro, Ryan,” Freya replied.

“That snarky lawyer guy?”

“Yup.

Lily squinted, suspicious. “I thought you two didn’t vibe. Since when are you texting him?”

Freya shrugged. “We’re just using each other. Once this is done, he’s outta my phone.”

Freya forwarded two files from her email to Lily. “I’m being watched, so I can’t hit a print shop. Can you print these and have your assistant mail them?”

Lily skimmed the files on her phone. “You’re really going through with the divorce?”

“Yeah,” Freya said. “Please, make it quick.”

Lily nodded. “Got your back. Whatever you decide, I’m Team Freya. Oh, and I snagged some cool stuff from my last shoot in Lasviton. I’ll have my assistant toss the files in with those and send it all over.”

When they parted ways, Lily’s assistant was waiting in the parking garage with the car.

Freya walked her out, then headed back alone.

As she reached the elevator, the doors slid open, and Liam burst out, pulling her into a tight hug. “You didn’t bail?”

Freya gave him a flat look. “You’ve got four goons on my tail. Where am I supposed to go?”

Liam let out a huge sigh. “You’re too smart. Those four probably can’t keep up with you.”

“Thanks for the props, but I’m not some comic book hero who can disappear into thin air.”

Liam chuckled, wrapping an arm around her waist as he guided her into the elevator. “Come on, since you’re here, let’s hit the stores. Get you some new clothes.”

“My closet’s packed. I don’t need more.”

Liam stopped short, one eyebrow raised. “Didn’t you donate all your clothes? Or did you forget?”
