He’s an Alpha She doesn’t Care novel Chapter 131

Jared

He’d felt the anger and then seen her eyes go almost completely red, as if he was looking at a pure-blooded Alpha Wolf’s eyes. It had come out of nowhere, and he’d reached out on instinct to touch her to use the bond he knew she could feel to help settle her. Only to have her be on the move, and he heard the unmistakable sound of the cracking of her bones, she was about to have her first shift.

Andy was gone before he was, and he was yelling for his father even as he shot off after Wynta. Jared watched in complete shock as she shifted to an all-black wolf. It was large and impressive, and kind of hard to look at, seemed to just absorb light into it, not reflect off it. Both Andy and Chester were on her beast trying to drag it down to the ground, the moment the shift was complete.

In a flash, he positioned himself in front of her, with Dwane and Emerson quickly joining the fray, all four of them working tirelessly to contain Remi. Now fully in control of her wolf, she was a tempest of fury, snarling and growling, her claws digging into the earth as she fought to rise against their combined weight.

All Jared could do was stand there, a silent sentinel before her, desperately trying to reach out to her, to connect amidst the chaos. This rage had erupted from nowhere, and something deep within him sensed that it was linked to a vision or awareness that Remi—or perhaps both Remi and Wynta—had experienced. The telltale red glimmer in their eyes was a clear indication that something had triggered this upheaval.

Remi was breathtakingly beautiful, her strikingly vibrant eyes, each a different hue, stood out starkly against the obsidian fur of her wolf. Creed, his own beast, reveled in the sight of her, recognizing the raw strength she possessed. She was everything he was not, a magnificent creature, and he couldn’t help but marvel at the prospect of what they would look like together within the pack. Her wolf matched his size, a testament to the formidable power she would wield.

Minutes stretched into what felt like an eternity as two Gammas poured every ounce of their strength into calming the fury that coursed through her wolf.

Finally, when she was subdued and Wynta regained control, the reason behind the chaos became clear. The one thing they had longed for was now in pain, and the knowledge of that anguish pierced through them. Her beast had yearned to break free, to hunt down that Alpha and rescue her mother from his clutches.

Yet, he was on his way. Wynta’s words had ignited fury in Alpha Larissa of the Wolfen Council, who had departed to summon aid from the kingdom. It was likely that what Wynta had said about binding stones was in direct violation of Wolfen laws, necessitating a report. Or perhaps there was something more sinister afoot.

He caught a fleeting glimpse of red flecks in her eyes, though it was momentary, and then Wynta turned to him. “The portal will open there,” she said, pointing to a spot not far off. “No one should stand there, or they’ll be obliterated the moment it appears.”

He nodded slowly, feeling the weight of the situation. “Everything is going to be alright,” he reassured her, though he couldn’t shake the unease gnawing at him.

“My kin are coming to kill me and my mother,” she muttered, her voice laced with despair. “They hate the taint on their bloodline; we are a mistake that needs to be cleansed.”

“Over my dead body,” Jared declared fiercely, determination surging within him. “You are destined to be my Luna, and if anyone dares lay a finger on you, it will be war. No one—not even the king and his seers—has the right to separate an Alpha from his Luna, let alone kill one merely for being unhappy with their bloodline.”

“Remi is unfazed by it,” she replied, her expression resolute. “She wants them to come; they are unaware of what we are truly capable of, Jared. When they discover our strength… things will change. It won’t just be her; it will involve the leader of the Royal Coven and several Royal Seers to contain her if they can’t… Remi and I will do what is necessary. Just…” She locked eyes with him, a plea in her gaze. “Don’t interfere. I know you will want to, but please, don’t. It could offend the royals. Remi believes it will be fine. Just let it unfold as it will. We’ll understand and find the best solution ourselves.”

Jared felt a knot of unease twist in his stomach, but he understood her point. She had shared her capabilities with him, and it was likely that they had already anticipated this. He nodded, albeit reluctantly. “I’ll do my best to hold myself and Creed back. But let’s get you into something more appropriate. Not that I don’t enjoy you in my shirt, but I don’t want you half-naked when Nolan shows up.”

A small smile flickered across her face, and he guided her away to change. Given the way her beast had erupted from her, it was clear that she would need a complete wardrobe overhaul. Creed had used his claws to shred her clothes, and it was a miracle she hadn’t been left in tatters.

He tapped into the mind-link with his father and the Alpha unit, as well as his own unit stationed by the gate, to inform them that Alpha Dorian and Alpha Nolan were requesting entry into the pack. They were expected guests, sent by the Wolfen Council. Two cars were approaching, carrying a total of six individuals.

He listened intently as his father responded. “I’ll send Jenson and his unit to escort them in. Make them wait before opening the gate. Regardless of their claims, they are not allies.” The guard acknowledged, and the link dissolved.

Jared sighed, already anticipating the power play Alpha Dorian would attempt to execute with the Alpha Council card. He suspected Alpha Nolan would do the same, though that boy was astute enough to know he hadn’t scented Wynta, rendering his presence here pointless—this was purely for appearances.

As he stepped outside the packhouse, leaving Wynta with Larissa, he noticed Gordon and one of the male nurses approaching, wheeling what appeared to be a body covered by a sheet on a hospital gurney. His father linked to him, “That is Wynta’s fake body. It’s meant for everyone to see. Just play along.”

“Understood,” Jared replied, suppressing a sigh.

He stood not far from his unit, turning his head to catch a glimpse of Wynta nearby. Then he refocused on his father and the unit, all lined up beside Gordon and the nurse with the covered body. He concentrated on it, feeling its coldness—there was no heartbeat.
