Wynta
Perhaps her mother did indeed know exactly what Wynta was or could do. Perhaps all her suffering led up to this moment. Where Wynta herself could have her released from her own former Mate and bring him under the council’s wrath. Maybe she just had to play the long game was all.
As she looked at her mother, her head was lifted enough for Wynta to see a slight smile on her lips. Things were going to her mother’s liking as much as they were Wynta’s. Between the two of them, they likely could not only foresee the future but predict the actual outcome. The two of them together were an un-matched powerhouse.
Dorian had declared that Nolan would be returning to his pack, a move that was clearly designed to continue exploiting both Wynta and her mother. He had uncovered the truth of her abilities once she had been un-bled and fully realized, likely extracting this information through torture from her mother after discovering that Wynta’s death had been a ruse.
“I warned you once, Dorian,” Wynta said, her voice steady yet charged with an undercurrent of menace. “You lay a single finger on my mother, and I will unleash the full fury of my Alpha Wolf upon you. Do you truly want that?” Her gaze shifted toward his unit, noting the absence of a Gamma. She understood the implications; the Gamma likely disapproved of Dorian’s treatment of his Luna and had paid the ultimate price for it.
No true Gamma could stand by while harm was inflicted upon his Luna, for their very purpose was to protect them. Dorian’s decision to replace him with a second Delta spoke volumes about the lack of loyalty within his ranks, a betrayal that only served to highlight his own cowardice.
Wynta watched as Dorian’s jaw clenched, realizing the gravity of her declaration that the prisoner was, in fact, her mother, right in front of Alpha Larissa. The Alpha would take it upon herself to investigate. If Dorian dared to harm her mother, claiming she was merely a prisoner who had stolen his child, he would be caught in his own lies. He was cornered, and he knew it. Fleeing was not an option with both Wynta and her mother standing before him, ready to outmaneuver him at every turn.
Her attention shifted to Nolan as Alpha Larissa snapped a band onto his wrist, its color remaining stark white. “Explain yourself,” she demanded, her tone brooking no argument.
“She died; the bond has been dissolved. I’ll need a full moon to locate her again,” Nolan muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Hmm, do you realize I have been watching everything unfold? Your display of betrayal when Jared kissed Wynta moments ago—care to explain that?” Larissa challenged, her eyes narrowing.
“I… I,” he stammered, caught off guard.
“Wynta is a blood witch wolfen hybrid, which I suspect you already know given your desperate attempts to capture her. She can discern her Mate the moment she connects with her bloodline. In fact, she can activate the mating band before the full moon. All it requires is a single drop of her blood on the band, and it will respond magically, allowing her Mate to scent her immediately.”
“What?” Jared interjected, his surprise evident.
“Hmm, it seems she conceals the truth from you as well,” Larissa remarked, amusement dancing in her eyes. “Wynta, come here and let a drop of your blood touch the band on Nolan’s wrist, and then on Jared’s as well.”
“Yes, please do,” Jared urged, his enthusiasm palpable.
Wynta turned her gaze to him, feeling Remi huff in her mind. “I’d prefer to do this the right way. I want him to scent me under the full moon as it’s meant to be,” she asserted, her voice firm.
“I understand, but I’m merely ensuring that two Alphas are put in their rightful places—one a complete liar who will face the consequences of his actions, and the other who has been deceived,” Larissa replied, her hand shooting out to seize Nolan as he attempted to flee.
Wynta felt her aura surge, enveloping him and forcing him to the ground. She approached, one of Remi’s claws extending as she pierced her own wrist, allowing a drop of blood to fall onto the moonstone mating band on Nolan’s wrist.
The band turned a vivid red, cracks spiderwebbing across its surface before it shattered into pieces, disappearing from his wrist. The onlookers stared in stunned silence. “That is the symbol of a shattered bond that can never be restored. You were Mates, and now you are not, and will never be, for Wynta will never accept you back,” Larissa stated with an unsettling calm.
She shook her head, her voice laced with certainty. “Your fate was sealed the moment you forged an alliance with an Alpha unworthy of his own kind. You crossed from the Wolfen Realm into the human realm, yet clung to the outdated ways of the past to achieve your selfish desires.” With a wave of her hand, several wolves in blue uniforms appeared. “Restrain him with silver; his punishment will be determined by the king himself.”
“What?” Nolan gasped in disbelief. “I haven’t offended the king!”
“Are you so sure? Where do you think blood witches originate? Who are they loyal to, and who do they serve? The king himself… You could have possessed something invaluable but chose to disregard what Selena granted you. Shame on you,” she declared, gesturing for him to be taken away.
Wynta shook her head in disbelief, but before she could process her thoughts, she felt a pair of arms encircle her. “Sweetheart, it’s my turn,” Jared practically purred in her ear, his voice low and inviting.
