HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 266

“I want that too, Felicia.”

Silence fell again, thick and heavy, until the low buzz of Daven’s phone broke it. He reached for it, brows furrowing at the flood of messages lighting up the screen—from his legal team.

“It looks like you’ve won your divorce case, haven’t you?” Felicia leaned over slightly, her eyes flicking to the device in his hand.

Sure enough, the headlines confirmed it: the court ruling had finalized the divorce between Daven and Vanessa.

The public had been waiting for this verdict, though the outcome was hardly surprising. The court had sided with Daven. He hadn’t needed much public sympathy—just the truth. Once the evidence of what had really happened in his marriage was laid bare, support flooded in. Vanessa, meanwhile, had tried to turn the hearings into a circus, spinning cheap theatrics for attention.

“That woman is truly pathetic,” Felicia remarked coldly. “Look what happens when she acts on nothing but pride and emotion.” She gave a sharp, satisfied laugh. “And don’t even get me started on her ridiculous demands. Then again… maybe it’s only natural she tried. Didn’t countless contracts get terminated because of her scandals and reckless behavior?”

“I don’t care,” Daven replied, giving a dismissive shrug. “None of it matters to me. I won’t hand out excessive compensation either—that would only cost my side more than it should. Do you know what matters most to me?”

Felicia’s gaze sharpened on him. “Defamation?”

“That’s easy to wipe clean,” Daven said with quiet confidence. “But my relationship with Josh… that’s what she damaged most. If not for Vanessa’s drama, I’d have had at least a little freedom to see him.”

“You’re right.” Felicia snapped her fingers, her expression twisting with restrained anger. “Leave Mommy and Kalina to me—I’ll handle them. What you need to do is mend things with Althea. I pray for her happiness too, since my nephew will be living with his stepfather. I just hope the man Althea marries is decent.”

Daven was about to respond when the office door suddenly flew open. Arsen rushed in, but it wasn’t like the usual unannounced intrusions he sometimes made. This time, he looked stricken.

His face was drained of color, lips trembling.

“M-Mr. Daven…” his voice quavered.

“What’s the matter with you?” Daven frowned, unsettled.

“It’s the young master…” Arsen’s composure broke, unease written all over him.

“Josh?” Daven’s pulse spiked, fear cutting through his chest. “What about Josh?”

Arsen swallowed hard, his voice cracking. “The young master… he was in an accident. Right in front of the hotel where they’re staying. His condition is… critical.”
