HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 274

“Blood donor?” Althea gasped through her sobs. “His type is O, isn’t it? I’m O too—I can—”

The doctor shook his head firmly. “I’m sorry, ma’am. Your son’s blood type is O negative. It’s very rare. Not everyone with O blood can donate to him. If the match isn’t exact, it could be dangerous.”

Althea’s face drained of color. “O… negative?” Her voice cracked to a whisper. She looked at the doctor, confusion and fear knotting in her eyes. “Why am I only finding this out now?”

He nodded gently. “Yes. Blood types aren’t only A, B, AB, or O. There’s also the Rh factor—positive or negative. Joshua’s Rh is negative, which is extremely rare here. If your blood is O negative, then yes—you could donate to him.”

“Test me.” Althea thrust out her hand, her voice trembling but firm. “Check if my blood type matches Josh’s.”

“This is only a precaution,” the doctor explained gently. “The patient’s condition requires a large amount of blood. Could you also help us search for other potential donors with the same type?”

Althea’s face drained of color, her chest tightening. “Does this hospital have any reserves?”

“We’ve already checked the blood bank,” the doctor replied, his tone grim. “The supply of O negative is extremely low—almost nonexistent. Your son cannot receive O positive. Only O negative will work. We’re contacting other hospitals in the network, but time is running short.”

Her hands clenched the fabric of her blouse, twisting tightly. “So… what you’re saying is, if there isn’t a donor—?” Her voice cracked, the end of the sentence breaking into a sob.

The doctor’s gaze softened with understanding. “He’s in critical condition, ma’am. We need a donor with the exact same type. If there are any relatives with O negative, they could save his life.”

“My mother,” Felicia blurted suddenly.

Both the doctor and Althea turned toward her, their eyes searching, expectant.

“My mother’s type is O. Maybe her Rh factor matches.”

The doctor studied her intently, as if weighing whether this was a desperate claim or something he could rely on. “Are you certain? We’ll need quick confirmation.”

Felicia’s head bobbed in a firm nod, though her eyes shone with tears. “I’m sure, Doctor. Please… do whatever it takes to save Josh. I’ll call my mother right away.”

The doctor jotted something swiftly on his clipboard, then turned back to Althea. “The sooner, the better. And you, Mrs. Althea—please follow the nurse to check whether your Rh factor is compatible.”

“Yes, Doctor.”
