Yvan crossed his legs, lazily pulling out his phone and opening a game. "I'm not busy. I'm free as a bird. I'll just wait here for a bit. I'd like to meet your husband, actually."

Winifred's head snapped up. "Why would you want to meet my husband?"

Yvan glanced at her. "He's an old classmate's husband. Can't I meet him?"

Winifred unconsciously dug her nails into her palms, a nervous habit of hers.

Yvan noticed.

She was so afraid of him meeting her husband. She must be terrified he'd expose the lie about their happy marriage.

Winifred finally spoke. "...He won't be here for a while. And besides, he's not in your social circle. There's no reason for you to meet."

If Nancy showed up, her cover would be blown. Yvan absolutely could not be here. And Delia could wake up at any moment and give everything away.

Winifred stopped talking to him. She stepped away from the IV area and called Nancy.

There was no answer. She must still be busy.

Winifred then called someone else in the department and learned that Nancy had been called into an emergency surgery for a patient with a maxillofacial injury and wouldn't be out for a while.
