Chapter 505
After convincing herself, Kate said, “Mr. Frost, I’ll handle things with my colleagues. Don’t worry.”
Damien smiled without saying anything.
Lauren muttered under her breath, “You think you can do that? Yeah, right.”
As they pulled up to the restaurant, Lauren shot Kate a glare before heading toward Rhea.
Kate’s gaze turned icy when she saw what a suck–up Lauren was. But a second later, she was thrown for a loop.
It wasn’t just the five of them for dinner. The entire project team had shown up!
This looked like a full–blown group dinner. Kate’s heart sank.
As they walked in, a server said, “I’m sorry, but Ms. Pearson had only booked a table for four.”
Four?
Everyone turned to look at Kate, who trailed behind.
What the hell? She’d only booked a table for four? The rest of them weren’t counted?
Lauren whipped around. “Weren’t you jus
can’t even book a restaurant correctly!”
about how Mr. Frost could trust you to handle things? You
At that moment, George flashed his membership card to the staff. The server immediately perked up. “Mr. Snider, right this way!”
Members had priority there–reservations didn’t matter.
Kate’s face burned with humiliation as she stepped into the largest private room at the restaurant. How was she supposed to know that the entire group was coming?
In truth, it wasn’t her fault. Rhea had called everyone at the last minute, figuring that Kate would only book a
table for four.
“Mr. Frost, you can order first,” George suggested.
“Let Ms. Ravelle do the honors. I don’t have any dietary restrictions.”
Thanks to Liam, George and Damian had gotten pretty chummy lately.
Carter jumped in breezily. “What? Is she wrong? You can’t even handle a restaurant reservation. If this were back in the day, I wouldn’t even hire you as my secretary who got paid six thousand dollars a month. I would feel ripped off.”
“At least Carter used to be a CEO in the past. What about you?” Lauren shot her a sideways look. “CPO–short for ‘Chief Pathetic Officer‘.”
Meanwhile, Kate ground her teeth so hard that the sound was audible. She lowered her voice, sounding eerily calm. “Lauren, do you have a death wish?”
Lauren handed the menus to the waiter. She turned back and smiled at Kate, keeping her voice just as low. Relax. I’ll drive you insane before I kick the bucket, or all the crap I’ve pulled over the years would’ve been in vain.”
Kate’s eyes turned bloodshot with rage and hatred. Later that night, she would make sure that Sawyer told Damian to fire Lauren! She believed that Lauren had to be tossed as far away as possible so that she would never appear before Kate ever again!
The fury Kate felt reminded her of someone–Seamus. His mouth and tongue had been just as revolting and infuriating.
She rubbed her throbbing temples. Fortunately, he hadn’t popped up in her world for ages.
Just then, someone knocked on the door to the private room. Damian said, “Come in.”
The door opened, and a man dressed in a sharp suit walked in. He looked polished and approachable, and he smiled warmly. “Mr. Snider, Mr. Frost, Ms. Ravelle–it’s good to see you.”
That voice…
Kate’s head snapped up. What was Seamus doing there?
Lauren pursed her lips and crossed her arms as she sized Seamus up. For some reason, she felt they were kindred spirits–birds of a feather who would instantly hit it off if they ever met.
After all, he looked just like her—a bad guy.
