"If you don't come up with a reasonable explanation, I'll sue you too," Connor said.
The police officer across from him frowned.
Connor was indeed a well-known intellectual with many students and considerable influence. His new book had just been released and was receiving a lot of attention.
That was what Connor was most anxious about. He needed to hold a fan meet, do interviews, and so on.
How could he let some worthless nobody stand in his way?
He really hadn't expected Sylvia to still be in Draventh. If he had known about it, silencing her back then would have been much easier.
"I want to call my son-in-law," Connor demanded.
He was not yet a confirmed suspect, so he still had the freedom to do that. He called Sawyer in front of the police officer.
"Hello, Sawyer?"
Sawyer answered, "Hello?"
Connor's tone was warm as he said, "Sawyer, I'm being slandered. Please contact some lawyers. I will make sure that the woman who defamed me faces the harshest punishment! And I'll sue the psychiatric hospital for negligence!"
He spoke with absolute certainty, as if Sawyer would naturally help him.
After all, Connor was Sawyer's future father-in-law, and Kate had told him that Sawyer adored her.
Since he intended to marry Kate, Sawyer would naturally go to any lengths to defend him, who was both his teacher and future father-in-law.
Sawyer paused briefly before saying, "Alright. I'll handle it."
Connor felt reassured. "Okay. I'll wait for your update."
He then ended the call.
