Sylvia believed that Connor and Kate were unworthy of Sawyer.
Kate stared at Sylvia coldly and said, "A woman like you, who's trying to use her miserable past for gain, will never deserve love. Don't even dream of having a man like Sawyer."
Just the thought of Sylvia setting her sights on Sawyer made Kate feel sick.
Sylvia laughed. "Your imagination runs wild. I'm old enough to be Sawyer's sister. I just can't stand seeing you Pearsons living happily. Since we can't reach an agreement, I'll see you in court.
"You're right. I don't have proof. But do you really think that this won't affect your future marriage? Your fiance is the CEO of a major company. If people start gossiping about his future father-in-law forcing a female student to sleep with him, what do you think that will do to him?"
With that, Sylvia prepared to step out of the car.
But Kate suddenly grabbed her wrist, her gaze as sharp as knives. "If you dare hurt him, I'll never forgive you!"
Sylvia's gaze was calm. She studied Kate for a long moment. "Is that so?"
She was surprised that Kate actually cared so much about Sawyer.
What about Sawyer?
Kate sat alone in the car, her mind in turmoil.
She hated Connor for doing such despicable things and dragging her into his mess, and she resented Sylvia for being so relentless.
She wouldn't let anyone block her path.
She thought that Sylvia was right. Once Connor was proven guilty, it would definitely have a negative impact on Sawyer, though he might not say anything.
Kate couldn't afford to lose him.
After rushing back to the hospital, Kate frantically contacted everyone she could, trying to suppress the case.
Sylvia was just a powerless woman. It was far too easy to crush her.
…
At 11:30 pm, Sylvia arrived at the hospital with minor scrapes.
Sawyer rushed over. "Sylvia!"
