Rhea laughed. "You and your husband are having some marital spat. What can we do about it? We tried to mediate, but it didn't work, so we all just have to go our separate ways."
At the end of the day, this was just Sawyer and Kate's family drama. Was he abusing her? Was he starving her? Was he keeping her from sleeping?
She still slept in a spacious bedroom and wore custom-made dresses. All she had to do was scrub some floors and clean toilets. How did that make everyone there Sawyer's accomplices?
Liora huffed and stood up. "I wish you good luck, Ms. Pearson."
The other wives immediately followed her lead, standing up like they were her followers and turning to leave with her.
Sawyer rose with them. "Thank you all for your help."
"It's no problem. Please, do what you must!"
"We'll get going then!"
The wives fled in a hurry, wanting nothing more than to distance themselves from this family's mess. Rhea and her friends, however, spared Kate one last glance before leaving. She'd brought this upon herself, and no one could save her. All they could do was wish her good luck.
As the sound of their footsteps faded, Kate finally unleashed all her pent-up emotions. She laughed hysterically, letting her tears stream down her face.
Sawyer calmly sat back down, savoring the feast laid out on the table. Amid Kate's maniacal laughter, his appetite was surprisingly hearty.
Kate slowly fixed her bloodshot and stormy eyes on him. "Are you happy now? I'm completely ruined."
There would no longer be any space in Draventh's high society for her. From this day forth, word of this would spread like wildfire in private circles. Everyone would curse and scorn her as a vicious woman.
