Blythe’s P.O.V.

Karma knows something. Something that nobody else does. Don’t ask me how I know, but I do. I can see it in his eyes. The way they linger on certain people. The way they harden, like he’s on edge when certain people enter the room. The way he covers me with his body when certain eyes are on me.

I tried to ask a couple of times. Sometimes underhandedly, sometimes outright. All times, Karma shuts me down. So, I started paying attention to him. More than usual. Because apparently, the man had forgotten that I knew him better than anyone.

Right now, most of us are in the barroom, having drinks, talking, having fun. Some brothers are wasted. EvaEvander has been hovering just a little too close for comfort, and I can’t shake the feeling that he knows something—maybe not everything, but certainly a piece of the puzzle that is unfolding before us.

I’m seated at a table with Bonnie, Riley, and Willow, our laughter punctuated by the sound of cards being shuffled and drinks being poured. Evander, stationed right behind me, radiates warmth that seeps into my skin. The rest of the crew—CG, Psycho, and Dragon—are preoccupied with their own affairs, though I can’t quite discern what’s keeping them busy. It’s clear that Karma has them occupied, just as he has the guys of the girls, leaving us feeling a tad abandoned tonight.

As I glance up, my breath catches in my throat. Karma strides into the barroom, his presence commanding as he surveys the crowd. My gaze follows his, and I can see his attention settle on someone—someone I can’t quite identify, but my instincts tell me I know who it is. When his striking emerald eyes finally lock onto mine, I feel a rush of warmth envelop me. I can’t help but smile and blow him a playful kiss. He responds with a fleeting smile before he retreats back outside, leaving me momentarily breathless.

Curiosity piqued, I turn my attention to the direction where his gaze had lingered, studying the faces around that area.

“So, Riley, you never did tell us what went down the other night after Slider whisked you away over his shoulder,” Willow teased, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

Riley scoffed, rolling her eyes dramatically.

“Are they all like that?” she asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “So hot one moment and ice-cold the next?”

“Only until they come to terms with their feelings,” I chimed in, leaning forward with a conspiratorial grin. “Then they’re just hot all the time.”

Willow snorted at that, clearly entertained.

“What’s Slider doing to you?” Bonnie inquired, a teasing lilt in her voice. “I spotted you two having breakfast not too long ago.”

Riley sighed heavily, as if the weight of the world had settled upon her shoulders.

“He… I just don’t understand him,” she confessed, her hands flailing in exasperation before dropping onto the table with a thud. “He told me we looked like a couple and that he cared about me, so he brought me here. He declared that I was his, whether I liked it or not. This beast of a man stripped me down and spanked me until I admitted I belonged to him! Then he gave me the most mind-blowing orgasm I’ve ever experienced! We even had breakfast together the next morning! And guess what? Just hours later, he was back to ignoring me. When I confronted him, he insisted we weren’t a couple and that he never claimed to have feelings for me like that. I guess it was just… sex talk.”

We exchanged glances, the collective realization sinking in. Bonnie turned to me, and we all shared the same thought. Slider is a complete idiot.

“Okay, what the hell?” I exclaimed, throwing my hands up in frustration. “Someone needs to break this down for me.”

“My guess is… the dude is terrified of his feelings,” Bonnie speculated, her brow furrowing in thought.

“Why are so many biker men scared of their feelings?” I wondered aloud, genuinely perplexed.

“Right?” Riley chimed in, her arms crossing defiantly. “They live these badass, dangerous lives, yet can’t admit when they like someone?! It’s insane!”

“Not all of them are like that,” Willow interjected, her tone thoughtful. “Breaker was sweet. I was the one who pulled away. Same with Maddie and Clutch.”

“Oh great, so it’s probably just me then,” Riley muttered, downing the rest of her drink in one go.

“Oh honey, that’s not what I meant!” Willow reassured her. “I know for certain that Slider has feelings for you.”

“No, he doesn’t,” Riley grumbled, her glare directed at her empty glass. “Besides, he’s been sleeping with the club girls. Cherry told me.”

“Did she now…” I murmured, glancing over at the club girl who was currently all over Rubble.

Bonnie erupted into laughter, unable to contain herself.

“Wow, bitch, she’s lying,” she said, her laughter infectious. “I’ve literally seen her hit on Slider every single day, and he’s turned her down rather rudely each time. She’s just trying to get under your skin. Slider is an idiot. And if you want proof… I have a plan.”

“A plan?” Riley perked up, her interest piqued. “What kind of plan?”

“Make him jealous,” Bonnie proposed with a nonchalant shrug. “Dance all over one of the brothers. He’ll stop it and drag you back to your room. Stand your ground. Make him admit he wants something serious with you, or draw a clear line between you two. I’d be surprised if he can hold out through the night, but he might. You just need to stay strong. Either he’ll crack, and you’ll get what you want, or when lockdown’s over, you can leave and never speak to him again.”

Riley contemplated this for a moment, her eyes flickering between me and Evander, who was still behind us. He offered a single nod, and suddenly, Riley was bursting with excitement. Evander loves his brothers, but he’s also my loyal sidekick. We may have been using him as a measure for our ideas, and all I needed was a simple nod or shake of his head.

“Okay, okay, that guy over there is Crash,” Willow said, pointing to a man across the room. “He and Slider have had a bit of beef over the years—bad bets and all that brotherly nonsense. But he’s probably your best option.”

“Slider isn’t even here,” Riley mumbled, her enthusiasm wavering.

“Prospect!” I called out to Evander. “Go fetch Slider.”

“Can’t leave you, babe,” Evander replied casually, his eyes still on me.

I groaned in frustration.
