A magnum opus was said to be the greatest work of an artist or craftsman, the singular achievement that defined their existence and stood as testament to everything they had learned and become.
But this was a limited view.
A magnum opus did not have to be singular. It did not have to be final. The greatest work was not necessarily the last work, nor was it the work that others deemed most impressive by their own limited standards of measurement.
Sometimes, a magnum opus was simply the work that felt right in the moment of its creation, the achievement that resonated with the deepest parts of oneโs being and announced to existence itself that yes, this was what they were capable of, and no, they were not yet finished becoming more.
Noah had many moments of glorious defining achievements scattered across his journey from a tiny blue planet to the primordial depths of existence itself, but at this time, holding the neck of THE Living Spirit, an entity who he had only ever heard of in the Stories of The Earliest Folds...
This was a moment!
Blue-gold flames billowed over his body and washed over the grayish form of THE Living Spirit with hunger that could not be denied, and as he looked at the many cold eyes of this being who gazed at him calmly even as his existence began to break down, Noah sneered in distaste.
"What a shame. This turns out not to be your main body?"
His grip tightened, flames intensifying.
"What a fucking shame..."
BOOM!
Yes.
The moment he had gotten his hands on THE Living Spirit, he had sought to give him a speedy entry into THE Infinite Desmoterion, to add a Half-Step Absolute Depth legend to his growing collection of imprisoned powers.
But the prompt that rose shattered that ambition.
Imprisonment Failure
The selected target for THE Infinite Desmoterion is only partially defeated. This manifestation represents a Spirit Body rather than a complete existence.
The complete Depth of their Existence still remains untouched in another location. Full subjugation of their core existence is required for imprisonment.
Until that core is captured and defeated, entry into THE Infinite Desmoterion is not possible.
...!
He couldnโt draw this fucker into his prison as the main component that made up their existence was not here, was sitting safely in some Spirit Shelter within THE Loom while this expendable body fought and died in his place.
It would have been a glorious thing to have a Half-Step Absolute Depth entity in his prison, a legend whose authority he could draw upon and whose knowledge he could extract over eons of careful interrogation!
If he was ambitious enough, he could make it his goal to find Spirit, Elemental, Concept, and others to lock them all in his prison, building a collection of THE Living Existences that would make even THE Creature pause!
But if this wasnโt viable...
"The Civilization I am standing over collapses all it has to me."
BOOM!
The Thesis blazed into existence with authority that only someone who had claimed The First Tongue could muster, and the body of THE Living Spirit buzzed as cracks began to spread across its surface like fractures appearing in ancient stone.
"I now know what gives you an edge."
"I have many ways to go about things now. We will meet again sooner or later, so be sure to stay alive until then."
"THE Creature and THE Living Paradox run rampant as they believe everything shall fall to them. Little guys like us also want a piece of the pie, you know? We also have ambitions."
"None of us truly back THE Creature or THE Living Paradox or even THE Primordial Chaos. All of us are ultimately seeking our own glory. Even those who follow you or back you... they are likely looking for their own glory. Donโt believe anyone is truly backing your Wa-"
"Get the fuck outta here, man."
BOOM!
