Invisible to My First Love (Harper and Maddox) novel Chapter 35

Chapter 35

Harper

Around 9 in the morning, I stepped out of the shower in nothing but a towel, looking around to check if Maddox had returned, but he was still downstairs.

I’d woken up alone in his bed, my body a little sore from the wild night we’d shared.

My dress and underwear were on the same chair we’d fucked on and my mind took me back to the moment when I straddled him and he thrust from below.

Biting my lip as I thought about just how wet I was, I stretched out my arm to reach for my clothes when the bedroom door swung open.

He stood right in the doorway, dropping his gaze to my legs.

“You’re up,” he said.

I felt like he had already stripped me naked with his bare eyes and that made me tighten the grip on my towel.

“Clearly,” I said.

He stepped further inside and closed the door, then came so close that his chest almost came in contact with mine and I could feel the heat coming off his body. I spotted a subtle lip bite, making me swallow hard. I was aware that I was standing there, practically naked in front of him.

“I just checked downstairs and there’s gonna be so much cleaning,” he said, still looking at every inch of me instead of anywhere else in the room. “There are so many popped balloons and empty bottles on the floor. Someone decided to smear some cake on the wall. I didn’t even dare open the fridge in the kitchen. I’ll probably find a shoe in there.”

My lips curved into a smile just to shut out the memory of his hands on my body. “You sound like a guy with experience.”

I expected an immediate reply. Instead, what I got was silence and we stood there for a few seconds. His gaze briefly dropped to my bare thighs again and I forgot how to breathe. Maybe it was because I could still feel him kissing and licking them.

Then, as if nothing was happening, he stepped back and said, “You’re lucky you get to leave in your own clothes this time.”

I smacked my lips, like I was disappointed that he was leaving like that after teasing me so hard without even touching me.

“It’s only because you were careful this time.”

“Just so we’re clear,” he paused with a smirk. “I only did it so you don’t walk out of here in another pair of my clothes.”

“Like they’re anything special.” I rolled my eyes.

He scoffed. “You know they are. When you’re done here, come downstairs for breakfast or to carry a trashbag.”

And with that, he closed the door behind him, leaving me standing in place like I was waiting for something else to happen.

It was only after I told myself he wasn’t coming back that I reached for my clothes and dropped the towel to the floor.
