**TITLE: Broken Doesn’t Mean End**
**By M. Kaushik**
**Chapter 5: Traditional Medicine Is a Scam**

“Are you really prepared to take responsibility for this? Do you even have the means to do so?” Amanda’s expression hardened, her eyes narrowing with icy resolve. “Dr. Morgan’s directives are infallible. You need to administer the drug without delay! Any further hesitation, and it could cost her everything!”

Nearby, a doctor interjected, his voice laced with urgency, “Exactly right. I’ve never encountered any evidence suggesting that Norman Compound contains anything resembling Compound Y. An allergy? That’s just fear-mongering!”

“Dr. Morgan is a recognized prodigy in this field. His surgical outcomes are the very definition of success!”

“Administer it! Now!”

George, desperate and frantic, tried to intervene. “Wait, please! You can’t just—”

Amanda’s voice sliced through the chaos like a knife. “Someone restrain him! If he continues to obstruct the treatment, call the authorities!”

George struggled against their grasp, a sense of helplessness washing over him. “Ms. Walcott, what should we do…?”

Helen’s tone was eerily calm, devoid of emotion. “Let them believe what they wish. Whatever transpires is on their heads.”

With a mocking laugh, Amanda barked her “authoritative” command. “Administer the drug immediately!”

On the other end of the phone, chaos erupted.

George’s voice, hoarse from exertion, strained against their hold. “They… they did it. They injected the compound…”

Helen remained silent.

Deep down, she had already foreseen the impending disaster.

And, as expected…

Just a few fleeting seconds were all it took.

“Something’s wrong! The patient’s throat is swelling, the rash is spreading rapidly—she can’t breathe!”

“No blood pressure reading! Heart rate plummeting—down to 30! She’s entering V-fib!”

“Anaphylactic shock! My God—massive blood loss and an allergic reaction? What do we do now…?”

Everything unfolded precisely as Helen had forewarned.

Amanda’s complexion drained of color in an instant, her voice trembling as panic seeped in. “N-No… Dr. Morgan’s gold standard can’t be wrong… It must be her! Yes, it’s her body—something was already amiss!”

She desperately attempted to shift the blame.

Yet, her voice quaked with uncertainty.

George stood frozen in place, a silent observer as the doctors scrambled around, their frantic efforts aimed at saving the young girl. His grip on his phone tightened, his hope now resting solely on Helen. “Ms. Walcott… you can save her. You will save her, right?”

Helen hesitated for a brief moment.

From the very beginning, this butler, whom she had never met, had shown her unwavering trust.

This unexpected faith ignited a flicker of warmth within her for the biological parents she had never known.

Her voice resonated with firmness, leaving no room for doubt. “You. Find someone who specializes in traditional medicine. Bring an acupuncture kit.”

Her calm, steady demeanor infused the room with an unusual sense of reassurance.

George’s voice rose above the din, shouting toward the chaotic assembly of doctors, “Someone, locate a traditional medicine specialist! Ms. Walcott has a method!”

“Traditional medicine? Are you out of your mind? Everyone knows that’s just a collection of pseudoscientific nonsense!” Amanda retorted sharply.

But George didn’t spare her a glance. They were racing against time, and he had no patience for her skepticism.

He turned to Otis, his voice firm and commanding. “Find someone trained in traditional medicine, right now! I will take full responsibility for any consequences!”
