Finley’s smile vanished, his cold expression snapping back into place. “This round was your loss, Leopold. You were outmatched. You can’t blame her for looking down on you and calling you weak.”
Leopold was speechless. After a moment, he still sounded bewildered. “Are you sure she’s never been to a grand gala like this before? How could she dance so flawlessly?”
Finley shook his head, his eyes thoughtful. “I don’t know. She seems to be full of secrets.”
“Full of secrets? You’re giving her too much credit. I’ll admit she was somewhat impressive tonight, but only a little,” Leopold said, his disdain for Larissa returning. “And don’t you forget how vicious she is. She bullied Honora and did this to your leg!”
At the mention of his right leg, Finley’s brow furrowed, but he said nothing more.
When he thought about it, he had been the one trying to teach Larissa a lesson. It was his own lack of skill that had allowed her to turn the tables on him so devastatingly.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the room—
“Where do you think you’re going? Sit down and stay put,” Colter Dillon ordered, seeing his son Torrin get up. He knew exactly who Torrin was planning to find.
“Dad, you’re the one who said I should come here to network. How am I supposed to meet anyone if you make me sit here all night?” Torrin grumbled in frustration.
“You’ll have plenty of chances to meet people at the welcome party I’m throwing for you. Tonight is not the night,” Colter said sternly, worried his son would cause a scene and create friction with the Judson family.
Torrin reluctantly sank back into his seat, his irritation growing.
Fine. If he couldn’t approach Larissa here, he would find another chance after the gala.
He already knew she was in Regal City, and more importantly, that she was a Judson heiress.
