Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 81

Larissa cut Torrin off. “You can save it. I don’t go back to my exes, so don’t bother me again. My fiancé won’t like it.”

She didn’t feel sorry for him; she just found his behavior incredibly childish. When you’re in a relationship, you’re supposed to talk things out, not bottle everything up and assume the absolute worst of your partner.

The pleading in his voice vanished, replaced by a bitter rage. “Larissa, I knew it. You never cared about me at all! For two years, you just used me, letting me grovel at your feet like some pathetic dog! You’ll regret losing me! You’ll see, no one in this world will ever love you more or treat you better than I did!”

He hung up.

Larissa stared at her phone, dumbfounded.

If that volatile, resentful outburst was what Torrin called love, then she was better off without it. Wasn’t real love built on respect and understanding? Did he really think putting her down was the way to win her over?

Honestly, she felt wronged. She had never treated him like a doormat or asked him to be one. Everything he did for her, he did of his own volition. She’d never demanded a thing, so where did he get off claiming she’d used him? Some men, it seemed, were just inexplicably determined to act like pathetic fools.

Haskell watched the bewildered expression on her face and smiled gently. “Alright, don’t dwell on it. Go home and get a good nap.”

Larissa shrugged, tucking her phone back into her pocket. “Yeah, you too. You need to rest up if you want your legs to heal. Besides, you have to be sharp for my welcome party tonight. I have a feeling there’s going to be quite a show, and you won’t want to miss it.”

Haskell’s smile widened. “I look forward to seeing you in action.”
