Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 86

“Grandpa was suffering from a sudden headache on his way here,” Larissa explained calmly. “I happened to be passing by, so I gave him a quick treatment and stayed with him until he felt better. And you, Aunt Vivica, jump to conclusions and accuse me of having no manners? It seems to me you’re the one with a malicious agenda, trying to air our family’s dirty laundry in public.” She turned to Kiernan. “Grandpa, is the headache gone?”

Kiernan beamed, patting her hand. “Completely gone.”

He was genuinely impressed. His granddaughter’s medical skills were remarkable. He’d had his doubts when she’d confidently told him her skills were sought after, but just now, a debilitating headache that had plagued him for years had vanished after a few simple treatments from her.

Zoltan spoke up. “It seems your granddaughter is quite the accomplished healer, Kiernan.”

Kiernan swelled with pride. “Yes, I was shocked myself. This headache has been a torment for years, and I’ve never felt such relief.”

“I’m not in the best of health myself,” Zoltan continued. “The last time I had a bad turn, Haskell here spent a fortune at an auction on a rare medicinal herb just to help ease my condition.”

“You should have my granddaughter take a look at you sometime,” Kiernan offered magnanimously. “After all, we’ll be one family soon enough.”

As the two patriarchs conversed, Larissa’s eyes met Haskell’s across the room. She gave him a playful wink. He returned her gaze, the corners of his mouth lifting in a subtle smile, his calm eyes filled with a warm light.

Honora, who had been watching Larissa closely, saw the exchange. A bitter, confusing jealousy flared within her.

Had Larissa and Haskell already met? How had they developed such an easy rapport? Haskell had always been so cold and distant with her, yet he looked at this country girl with such tenderness.
