She just smiled brightly. “It’s alright. Just be more careful next time.” She stressed the words “next time,” knowing this was far from over.
Leopold looked up, meeting her mocking, dismissive gaze. “I will be,” he ground out through clenched teeth.
Neville seized the moment. “Paxton, Vivica, it seems you’re the ones who need to teach your children some manners. Let’s hope we can avoid this kind of embarrassment in the future.”
Paxton knew he had lost this round completely. “You’re right, Neville. I’ll deal with Leopold when we get home. This kind of recklessness will not happen again.”
He turned to Leopold. “Take your sister home and have her change her clothes. Now.”
Without another word, Leopold grabbed Honora’s wrist and stormed out of the ballroom.
As the drama subsided, Kiernan sighed and turned to Zoltan. “My apologies for that display.”
Zoltan’s eyes were fixed on Larissa, a smile of genuine satisfaction on his face. “Not at all. If it weren’t for your grandson’s little stunt, I never would have seen for myself how clever and capable my future granddaughter-in-law is. She has my full approval.”
Kiernan beamed. “To receive such high praise from you, Zoltan, is a great honor for my granddaughter.”
