Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 99

Finley had no idea what Larissa was up to.

“Wait a second,” Leopold said, a thought striking him. “If she wants to challenge me to a dance, why is she having you deliver the message?”

“Does it matter?” Finley said coolly. “If you’re not afraid of her, then accept.”

“Of course I’ll accept! I want to see what tricks she has up her sleeve this time,” Leopold said, striding toward Larissa with a look of contempt.

The music began, and Honora and Draven glided onto the dance floor, immediately drawing admiring glances.

“You’re a wonderful dancer,” Draven murmured.

“You are as well,” Honora replied with a polite smile.

“Have you noticed? Every man in this room is watching you. You’re captivating.”

Honora was used to the attention. As the most celebrated young woman in Regal City, she had been chosen by Zoltan himself to be Haskell’s fiancée. It was a shame, she thought, a real shame what had happened to him. In all of Regal City, there was no one who could compare to the man Haskell used to be—in looks, status, or ability.

The thought made Draven’s flattery seem dull and uninspired.

“Oh, no,” she said, forcing a modest smile. “Tonight’s protagonist is Larissa. They’re probably just looking at me with pity after what happened with the dress.”

He was nothing like Haskell. Even if Draven did become the head of the Palmer family, he would never achieve what Haskell had. The thought made her heart ache with a strange sense of regret. For a fleeting moment, she wondered if she had made a mistake letting Larissa take her place. Perhaps marrying a crippled Haskell wouldn’t be so bad after all.
