“Alright, I’m heading out now. If you need anything, just give me a call,” Adam said, leaving his number before turning and walking out.
With no outsiders around, Erica relaxed and said, “Stella, why has all this crazy stuff been happening in Seabrook lately?”
“Who knows?” Stella lay back on the bed, not really thinking about it. “Anyway, Captain Lance and his team will handle it. No need for us to worry.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Erica nodded and then quickly changed the subject. “So, what do you want for lunch?”
The sudden change caught Stella off guard, and she laughed. “Erica, you really are a foodie.”
Erica grinned. “It’s not like you just met me. Come on, tell me. What do you want to eat? I’ll go buy it for you.”
“Well, everything’s fine,” Stella said, thinking for a moment. Honestly, she didn’t have much of an appetite.
“Alright, I’ll just pick something up for you later,” Erica replied.
As the two of them chatted, neither noticed someone quickly passing by the door.
As Theodore pushed the door open, Sylvia immediately asked, “Is it done?”
“Yeah, it’s handled,” Theodore replied with a quick nod, a flicker of guilt passing through his eyes.
However, sitting on the bed, Sylvia couldn’t see the guilt in his eyes and believed him. “If it’s done, then why are you here?” Sylvia asked.
“I… Cold sweat began to form on his forehead.
The truth was, he hadn’t solved anything at all. Just when he was about to finish the job, he let his guard down for a second, and the target managed to escape.
He had come here to ask Sylvia what to do next, but as soon as he locked eyes with her icy gaze, he lost all courage to speak. If Sylvia found out, he knew that even though he was her father, it wouldn’t go well for him.
“Why are you hesitating?” Sylvia frowned, fixing Theodore with a sharp look. “Did something happen?”
“Yeah, there’s something going on,” Theodore stammered. Thinking fast in his panic, he blurted out, “I just
saw Stella in the room next door.”
“Stella?” Sylvia’s eyes widened. “Are you sure about that? You really saw her?”
“Come on, I’m not that old,” Theodore said, waving a hand. “If you don’t believe me, just come take a look yourself. It’s not far.”

Sylvia didn’t respond. her mind instead drifting back to how Ernest had been acting kind of weird these past couple of days. Especially that day he was gone for hours, claiming he was out meeting a “friend”
Was it really a friend though she thought, her doubt growing stronger.
Sylvia?” Theodore called, snapping her out of her dare.
Sylvia shot him an impatient glare. “Spit it out!”
“I just wanted to know if you wanted to go take a look.” Theodore asked, hesitant.
Take a look at what?” Sylvia retorted feeling like she was about to lose her mind. ‘See her flaunt her victory? Watch how she managed to get out of all this mess unscathed? Or see how much better her life is than mine?”
Even though Sylvia was sure that her plan had won Ernest over, there was always that lingering doubt. Ernest was cold–hearted, unpredictable.
And now, Stella had nearly cleared her name. If Ernest went back to his ambiguous attitude toward her, Sylviz wouldn’t be surprised
But Sylvia took a bullet for nothing. To be precise, she got a bullet. The more Sylvia thought about it, the more it drove her crary
“How about I bring her over to apologize to you?” Theodore suggested trying to calm her down.
With Sylvia Theodore was abys overly cautious, walking on eggshells, afraid to annoy her. But when dealing with Stella bed at all tough
He still thought Stella was that same katle girl he could pick on using his twisted idea of “fatherly authority‘ to keep her in ched
Too bad Sylvia shut him down. Otherde, he would ve found out the hard way just how much fire Stella had in ber since coming back stronger than ever.
Sylvia’s eyes shot daggers at him. Are you out of your mind? If you bring her over to apologize, that’ll just make everyone pay attention to us again. The best thing you can do now is lay low and wait for this to blow
over
“So. I’ll head back now?” Theodore asked, hesitating
“Obviously. What else?” Sylvia snapped

It was Theodore’s mess to clean up, not hers.
Stella looked up and asked, “Erica, who’s that?”
“It’s Jeremy,” Erica replied casually.
“Jeremy?” Stella froze for a second, then burst out laughing. “What brings you here?”
“Just wanted to check on you,” Jeremy said, glancing at the pile of barbecue on the table. “I was going to bring you some snacks, but looks like you’re already ahead of me.”
“No worries,” Erica chimed in, swinging a skewer in her hand. “Trust me, I can always eat more.”
“Great,” Jeremy said, pulling out a few bowls of oatmeal from his bag. “I got some light oatmeal. It’ll go well with the barbecue.”
“Jeremy, sit down and eat with us,” Stella said.
“Alright,” Jeremy agreed, settling down with them.
After a bit, once they’d all basically eaten their fill, Jeremy finally got to the real reason he stopped by. “Stella, I actually came tonight because I wanted to ask you something.”
“Go ahead,” Stella said.
“So there’s a charity gala tomorrow night and I’ve been invited. Would you wanna be my date?” Jeremy
