If things had gone the way they were supposed to, Stella wouldn’t just be aiming for international exhibitions -she would’ve already made a name for herself on the global stage.

“Alright, I get it,” Stella nodded.

“Now that you’ve had a break, let’s get moving. We’ve got four more busy days ahead,” Jeremy said.

He didn’t say anything else, and Stella stood up, following him out.

Stella figured most people would’ve already left the exhibition by this hour. But as soon as they stepped out, they unexpectedly ran into Ernest.

The sky was tinged with a golden haze, and swirling clouds reflected the light, casting a dramatic glow on the scene. Ernest was sitting in the driver’s seat, his sharp, aloof features illuminated by the light filtering through the windshield.

But as soon as he saw Stella coming out of the exhibition hall, his gaze shifted, just for a moment.

As Ernest fixed his eyes on her, she seemed to sense it, turning to meet his unwavering stare head–on.

Stella was a bit confused, but she didn’t think he was waiting for her. Just as Stella turned away to leave with Jeremy, Ernest got out of his car and walked straight toward them.

“Mr. Lloyd,” Jeremy said, stepping in front of Stella to subtly block her. “Is there something you need?”

“I’m not here for you,” Ernest replied coolly, his eyes focused solely on Stella. “Mind if we talk in private?”

Stella was taken aback by his unexpectedly polite tone. In the past, Ernest would’ve just given an order, no questions asked, and she would’ve had to drop everything to comply. Now, he was actually asking for her opinion, and it felt weird.

“Just get to the point,” Stella said, making it clear she wasn’t interested in a private conversation. “No need to hide anything from Mr. Ford.”

Ernest shifted his gaze to Jeremy. If it were anyone else, they would’ve caught on and come up with an excuse to bail.

But Jeremy just shrugged, acting oblivious. “Mr. Lloyd, it’s getting late. If you haven’t figured out what you want to say yet, we can always talk another time.”

Ernest paused for a moment, gave them both a cool glance, and turned to walk away. Soon enough, his car disappeared down the street.

“Any idea what that was about?” Stella asked.

“Beats me,” Jeremy shrugged, totally laid–back. “Maybe he suddenly started missing you and couldn’t help himself?”

Stella rolled her eyes. “Jeremy, can you be serious for once?”

Ernest was always cold, ruthless. Seven years and she couldn’t win him over. Thinking he’d suddenly appreciate her was as likely as believing in fairy tales.

Relax. I was only kidding. Come on, let’s get some food and then I’ll drop you off at home,” Jeremy said.

“Yeah, Stella replied. They hopped into the car, still joking and chatting as they headed out.

They didn’t realize it, but at the corner of the intersection, an unlit car was parked in the shadows. From the driver’s seat. Ernest watched their departing car, his gaze intent.

As night fell, the chirping of insects filled the air, but no one knew what he was thinking.

“What the hell is going through her head?” Jeremy just couldn’t understand how someone could be so clueless.

Who knows?” Stella shrugged, just as speechless as he was.

Now, they were standing in front of Stella’s apartment. It wasn’t because she had forgotten her keys, but because the front door had been ripped off, and inside, the place was a mess.

Jeremy could understand someone wanting to destroy the place and get revenge on Stellaafter all, the Lloyd family had made her life miserable for years. He couldn’t make sense of the message left behind.

or not.

She could let things slide for Sebastian’s sake, but that didn’t mean she was going to endlessly tolerate the ungrateful people around her. Once that goodwill ran out, she wouldn’t care about anyone’s feelings.

She took out her phone and called Noreen. After just two rings, Noreen picked up, her voice dripping with

smugness.

“Stella, did you see my masterpiece? Well, this was just some payback. You gave me messed–up designs–if anyone screwed up, it’s you. You ruined my contest, made me finish last, and now I’m a total joke because of

you.

“If you don’t hand over some top–tier designs to make up for it, there’ll be hell to pay,” Noreen threatened.

That was Noreen’s real goal. Her reputation had crashed, and while her PR team could buy some fake comments to clean up her image, anyone in the jewelry world could see through it.

Some truly jaw–dropping, top–shelf jewelry designs were her only shot at clawing back her reputation.

Seeing Stella’s Auroral Tiara on the runway today had sparked her greed. Noreen couldn’t help but want that masterpiece for herself.

‘She already has the tiara, so it makes perfect sense for me to demand the scepter next, doesn’t it?‘ Noreen plotted, her mind racing with envy and schemes.

“Oh please, you seriously think I’d give you any designs after what you just pulled?” Stella shot back with a mocking laugh before Noreen could even finish.

Has Noreen totally lost it?‘ Stella fumed inwardly. ‘She trashes my place and then comes asking for compensation?

“You will, Noreen replied confidently. She already knew that Stella’s falling out with Ernest was just digging her own grave.
