The news sent shockwaves across the monsteroid prodigies surrounding Drake, leaving them all reeling in shock. Leigh initially anticipated some good news when she saw Drake reach for the messenger pendant at his waist, yet the reality was far worse than anything she could have possibly imagined.
Everyone expressed disbelief in their own way.
"That can't be! It's impossible!"
"But Damian is a perfect-stage level six paragon! Only paragon heirs and divine heirs could stand a chance against him! How could a practitioner two levels below him accomplish such a feat?"
"How did this happen, Your Highness?"
"Your Highness, I..."
The man who stood closest to Drake was a perfect-stage level six paragon who towered above everyone else. He looked at Drake in astonishment and asked, "Is that true, Your Highness?"
Drake's countenance soured. He nodded and then shook his head regrettably to deliver the grim news. "Arjun and the others will be back soon. There's no doubt that Damian is dead."
The towering man from earlier found it difficult to fathom Drake's demise at the hands of a level four paragon like Severin. He came forward and asked, "How did it happen? Did a paragon heir or a similarly-powerful prodigy attack Damian?" He found it unbelievable, and viewed the news with a generous dose of skepticism.
Arjun and Amit had downcast expressions as they approached Drake. "Severin killed him."
"What?!" came the shocked reply. It was difficult to wrap one's head around the demise of Damian in Severin's hands. Even though Drake—as the prince of the dragonoids—was ranked highest in Thundlight's eight mosteroid clans, the heirs of the other seven clans were also at least level six paragons. For mosteroids, those were considered heavenly prodigies.
In the past hundred years, Drake had emerged as a prodigious figure among the dragonoids, as he had reached level seven level paragon before turning thirty years of age. Awakened with the blood of the golden dragon, he aspired to become a mosteroid celestial, carrying the hopes of Thundlight's monsteroids.
