With Baldwin's answer, the formidable malevolent energy around him ensnared Grenn like gangrene, corroding him instantly.
Grenn was not about to let himself be captured without a fight. He struggled furiously, and planned to use the Rules of Celestial Demon to disintegrate and separate his solar spirit. That way, he could allow his soul to escape. As a half-immortal practitioner, he had condensed his soul into a perfect solar spirit, and he had refined his mana to its fullest too. Were he to have his mind set on escaping, then not even Xavier would be able to stop him.
Alas, Grenn's attempts at mobilizing his mana to separate his solar spirit from his body were futile, as he discovered that the Rules of Celestial Demon were ineffective for some odd reason. More shockingly, the vast mana of his half-immortal attainment seemed to flow unfettered toward Baldwin.
He could sense with clarity that his flame of life was getting dimmer and dimmer, like a candle in the wind that could be extinguished at any time. Then, the realization hit him—the Rules of Celestial Demon had been an elaborate trap! The supposed inheritance of skills from a former devil and the path it promised to become an immortal were all lies!
As Grenn was on the verge of breathing his last, he suddenly recalled that one fine morning when Baldwin arrived when he was in seclusion within the Darkness Sacred Land. In hindsight, he had made a grave and foolish error by seeking the opportunity to become an immortal from Baldwin.
In the eyes of 'Baldwin'—who was the Ancestora's clone—they were all clowns and a means to an end. Grenn fell into the same trap, and so did Horra. Even Xavier, who was still fighting desperately in Eastplain to fulfil his dreams of becoming an immortal, had been duped right from the beginning.
.
The Floating Light Sacred Land was not as powerful as the Grandiuno or the Promordial Sacred Lands. Shirva had only been a half-immortal for several thousand years, making him relatively young amongst other half-immortals. The successive deaths of half-immortals made him anxious and worried about what might happen.
At the same time, in the Jade Pond Sacred Land on the other side, their then leader raised her head and stared at the sky. The sight of crackling thunderbolts and violent storms led her to sigh heavily, "We live in troubled times."
A hundred years ago, the previous Jade Pond Sacred Land's leader had fallen because after joining the old wacko into the Starry Sky Battlefield. As a result, the status of the Jade Pond Sacred Land had always hung in the balance. They were considered to be the weakest sacred land in the entire Bleurealm. Their half-immortal was already old, and could only survive by remaining indoors. Forcing him to battle would probably only speed his demise.
