Love beyond the mask (Whitney) novel Chapter 1225

Whitney tried to keep her cool, forcing a wry smile. “Sandy, it’s not what you think.”

“We’re in a tough spot right now, so I have to go. These reporters—I still need them for something.”

“You’re both awake now. Shane will explain everything in detail.”

“I just hope one day you’ll understand—I was reckless, but I only did it to help you.”

With that, she turned and strode out, her mind made up.

“No! Don’t go! Do you really want the paparazzi to blow this up even more?” Sandy yelled after her. “Whitney, if you do this, I’ll never forgive you!”

But Whitney hardened her heart and ignored her protests. She signaled Felix to get the paparazzi out of there.

She shot a final look at Shane, leaving him enough space. “You did this—you need to face her. Make sure you explain everything.”

“Yeah. Whitney, thank you.”

Shane, still half-dressed, stood by the bed. Even in his disheveled state, he was all quiet strength and rugged good looks. He sat down, pulling on his shirt, and glanced at Sandy’s tear-streaked face, his voice hoarse with regret. “Sandy, whatever Whitney did, it was to help us.”

“Please don’t get worked up. It’s not good for you.”

“I’m going to tell you the truth now. The truth about why, all those years ago, we ended up with a daughter.”

“Okay?”

Sandy’s heart clenched. She felt paralyzed, like she couldn’t move no matter how hard she tried.

She lifted her eyes, watery and confused. She’d stayed up all night for this—for the truth.

She closed her eyes, not wanting to look at Shane’s heartbreakingly handsome face. “Fine. Tell me.”

There was a pause. Emma’s voice faltered, shocked. “Who are you? Are you Whitney…? Why are you with George?”

Whitney’s tone was icy. “Grandma, maybe you should be asking how I ended up in Shane’s apartment.”

“You’re in Shane’s apartment? Then Sienna… Whitney, what have you done?!”

Emma was losing it.

Whitney shoved George forward, expression cold as frost.

George’s face drained of color. He stammered into the phone, “Emma, the woman in Shane’s bed wasn’t Sienna! We didn’t realize and put the wrong girl’s photo online. We don’t know where Sienna went.”

“What?! Sienna’s not in Shane’s apartment? Then who’s the girl in his bed?! Delete those photos—now! This deal never happened, you hear me, George?!”

Emma’s panicked shout echoed from the phone.
