Love beyond the mask (Whitney) novel Chapter 1237

Whitney spotted Felix striding over with a message in hand, her expression turning even frostier. She hissed a warning, “Sienna ran off last night. She’s not coming back with cookies and sunshine, trust me. You’d better go see your mother right now!”

“Ran off? What do you mean Sienna ran off?” Shane asked, clueless about what had really gone down the night before.

Whitney rolled her eyes. “What do you think? I never laid a finger on her, but she bolted anyway. I caught her red-handed, and now she’s out for payback. What do you think she’ll do?”

Shane picked up on her tone immediately and let out a cold chuckle. “I haven’t even had the chance to call her out on her crap, and she’s already starting trouble?”

Whitney scoffed. “Is there anything she wouldn’t do? She’s lost her shot at joining the Nelson family, you think she’ll just let that go? She’s just like Florence—anyone who gets in her way, she’ll try to take down with her.”

“Find Sienna for me,” Shane demanded.

“I’m already tracking her down. Once I know what she’s up to, we’ll know how to handle her.”

“Thanks. I’ll get moving.”

Shane hung up, his lips pressed into a thin, icy line.

He turned around—

There was Sandy, holding tightly to Tina’s small hand, the two of them quietly bonding.

Shane cleared his throat, reminding them he was there.

Sandy, already feeling awkward, looked away slightly. “Shane, were you just talking to Whitney?”

It was rare to see Shane, always so proud, actually lower himself. He took her small hand and pressed it to his face. “If you need to be mad, take it out on me. I wanted to bring everything into the open. Sandy, you’re Tina’s real mom. Sooner or later, you’d have to step forward. We can’t drag this on anymore. Are we going to be a scandal or a real family? If you come with me to the Nelsons, I’ll explain everything to my parents. After that, the family can finally set the record straight.”

“I don’t want to go,” Sandy whispered, panicking. “This is all happening way too fast, I haven’t made up my mind.”

She was spinning inside—her memories were never coming back, and everything between her and Shane felt like his story, not hers. Just because they had a daughter, did that mean she had to marry him right now? No. It was too much.

Shane seemed to sense her fear. He gently pulled Tina closer, playing the dad card. “Look, we can take it slow. But now that you and Tina know the truth, you need to come with me to the Nelsons and talk to my mother. She deserves that much, doesn’t she?”

“You just want me to tell her I’m Tina’s mom?”

“Exactly! Mommy!” Tina piped up, eyes wide and pitiful. “If you don’t come to Grandma’s, she’ll never know who my real mom is, and then she’ll find me some wicked stepmom instead. Would you really let that happen?”
