Love beyond the mask (Whitney) novel Chapter 1242

Shane rushed back home, looking like he’d just jumped off a red-eye flight, with Sandy and Tina in tow.

Before Sandy could even catch her breath, he was already ushering her through the front door.

She heard his deep, serious opener and instinctively frowned, her heart pounding. She gave a gentle tug on his arm, trying to slow him down.

“Mr. Nelson, you can’t just tell your parents that… it’s not right.”

Marriage? Really?

She understood what he was getting at, but saying it out loud like that was just asking for misunderstandings.

Shane’s thick brows lifted as he looked at her, his voice low and rough. “No matter how I introduce you, I have to mention who you are. Honestly, this is what I want, and my parents need to know the truth about you.”

He lowered his tone a little, trying to reassure her. “Whether you agree or not, we can talk about that later. Just leave today’s situation to me, okay?”

He shot a glance upstairs, figuring his mom must be up there if she wasn’t in the living room. But suddenly, noisy voices and crying came from the guest room off the hall.

“Is there someone else here?” Shane muttered, frowning. Sounded like more than one person.

He immediately thought of Whitney’s warning. His eyes, deep and dark, flicked toward the guest room as he started to stride over.

That’s when Mrs. Nelson and Gary stepped out, just as the guest room door swung open, and the crying inside became even louder and more familiar.

“Who’s in there?” Shane’s handsome face turned cold. “Don’t tell me it’s—”

Before he could finish, Gary’s stern voice thundered, “You finally decided to come home? After causing such a mess, Shane, don’t you dare walk away!”

“Nonsense! Your mother already arranged for you to be engaged to Sienna from the Sheldon family!” Gary barked.

“I don’t agree to that, and I’ve said so from the start.” Shane replied coolly, his sharp gaze flicking toward the guest room. He couldn’t help a hint of sarcasm. “Let me guess—Sienna showed up early and told you something? Whatever she said, don’t believe a word.”

“Oh, really? And what about this morning’s news? Was that fake too?” Gary’s face had gone an unhealthy shade of red.

Mrs. Nelson gripped Shane’s arm, her voice tight and accusing. “Shane, did you hurt Sienna because of this woman?”

“Come on, that’s not even close to the truth!” Shane’s expression went icy. He gently released his mother’s hand, then turned and pulled the quiet, slender Sandy to his side, speaking solemnly.

“Whatever Sienna told you, don’t believe her. I’m sure she’s just trying to play the victim. And Mom, Dad, let me be clear—Sandy isn’t just some random woman.”

He took a breath, squeezing Sandy’s hand. “Her name is Sandy. And more importantly, Sandy is Tina’s real mom. That’s what I came home to tell you today. Tina’s mom has been alive this whole time—I just never told you.”
