Love beyond the mask (Whitney) novel Chapter 1315

But Whitney couldn’t stop worrying about little Mason, so the very next afternoon, she asked Parker to drive her to the airport.

Tiana insisted on coming to see her off, but Whitney wouldn’t hear of it. “You’re pregnant and still think you can run around? Just eat, nap, get some exercise, and take care of Cherry, okay?”

Tiana pouted stubbornly, clearly not satisfied.

Parker shot Whitney a look. “She only ever listens to you. Whitney, keep her in line for me, will you?”

“What are you saying, trying to get my best friend to boss me around?” Tiana protested, then grumbled at Whitney, “No wonder Yael Tennyson told me you’re a traitor. And with that whole Sandy thing, you totally took Shane Nelson’s side. Whitney, seriously, are your guy friends really more important than us? If Ludwik finds out you’re always helping them, he’ll be furious.”

Whitney shrugged, completely unfazed. “He can be mad all he wants, but he’ll just have to get over it.”

Parker smirked, the corner of his mouth twitching knowingly. “Isn’t that the truth? The main quest is right in front of us—Ludwik wouldn’t dare mess with her right now!”

“What main quest?” Whitney was halfway into the car, leaning out the window with curiosity.

Tiana immediately tugged on Parker’s sleeve, shooting him a warning glance.

He took the opportunity to cover Tiana’s hand with his, giving her a meaningful grin. “Oh, nothing you need to worry about. Just hurry back to Emperor City. Ludwik said if he doesn’t see you by dinner, he’ll have my head. I swear, I’m basically your bodyguard these days.”

“Isn’t being my bodyguard a sweet deal? Maybe I should just take Tiana’s side from now on,” Whitney teased, playing along.

Parker made a zipping-his-lips gesture. “Alright, ma’am, have a safe flight.”

“Tiana, see you! Take care of yourself and that little one. When it’s time, make Parker drive you to Emperor City—the Lipperts have the best maternity hospital in the city.”

Tiana grinned and waved, clearly in good spirits. “You really think I’ll wait that long?”

The car pulled away.
