“Three days ago, I told you I was going to get ready for the wedding. Everything’s set.”
“…Wait, what?” Wasn’t that just some offhand joke before they parted ways?
Whitney hadn’t taken him seriously at all.
But now, staring at him, she realized Ludwik wasn’t kidding. When this man got serious, his efficiency bordered on terrifying. Her nerves jumped and her tongue tripped over itself. “You didn’t actually prepare a wedding, did you?”
“I did.”
Ludwik calmly pulled out his phone. “The invitations are already drafted on Facebook—I sent them to Parker, Tiana, Ashton, Valerie… basically everyone you know in Banyan City.”
He added, “And of course, nobody from Emperor City’s been left out.”
“…Ludwik?” Whitney stared at him, feeling like she’d just been blindsided by a truck.
Did the entire Lippert family know? Did the whole world know? Was she the only one left out of the loop?
“Why are you even planning a wedding? Did you ever ask if I agreed?”
“Isn’t that what I’m doing now?” He gave her a relaxed, crooked smile.
Whitney could have screamed, she was so exasperated. She laughed in disbelief. “You already sent out invitations, and you’re just now asking me? You think this is business or something—make the move, then ask for forgiveness?”
“‘Make the move, then ask for forgiveness’—I like the sound of that.”
“Nobody does things as high-handed as you. You’re way over the top. Seriously, do you think I’ll just say yes?”
