100 The Archive

Nathan’s p.o.v.

With the Pack knowing who Alayah is she decided we would eat in the main dining room, she wants to see if anyone might address the fact that they don’t know if a female Alpha can handle a Pack this size. “Did you get a good night’s rest?” Mara asks and I see Alayah hiding her face in Nikolay’s chest. Dad chuckles before he pulls Mara onto his lap, just before an Omega places a plate with food in front of them.

We eat our breakfast in silence as we listen to the Pack–members, most conversations are about normal things and they don’t draw my attention. I focus on a conversation somewhere behind me, I heard them mention Alayah’s name and that made Yuma push forward. “Why did Alpha Josh hand over the Pack to her without asking us?” I hear a female ask and I wonder if her companions will give her the right answer.

“First of all he didn’t have to ask us and second of all she is our rightful Alpha.” I hear a male growl and I have to suppress a smile. Sounds like he knows this Pack’s history, whether that is because he grew up here or that he listened when Alpha Josh told him is the question. Not that it matters in this case, he answered her question and I hope that will be the end of it.

“There isn’t a Pack out there with a female Alpha, what if an Alpha decides to attack us to take over? Can you imagine how many Pack–members could get hurt or even die?” I hear the same female ask and Bastian gets out of his seat, “This Pack has always been stronger than other Packs and there is a reason for that. If you had paid attention in school you would have known, but like some other females you were to busy trying to get a High–ranking Mate.” He growls before he sits down again.

This time I do not hide my curiosity as I turn in my chair and the murderous look she throws Bastian tells me something happened between the two of them. I watch the female as someone else gets up, “Alpha, I don’t doubt that you are the rightful heir. I can even proof that Bastian is correct, because this morning one of our patrols encountered some Rogues.

They were mostly new Warriors and had just completed their basic training, but they were able to take down the Rogues. We all have felt an increase in strength after Alpha Josh transferred the title to you.” I hear someone say and I turn towards the male that has everyone’s attention. More and more voices are heard that confirm his claim and I see Grandpa smiling as he slowly nods his head.

We finish our breakfast as I listen to the current subject of their conversation, the change within the Pack since last night and I decide it is best if we somehow find out how much it has changed the Pack. “Bastian, can you find out what the current changes are? I also want you to keep an eye on it, maybe somewhere down the line more things might change.” I ask him through the mind–link. “On it.” Is his short reply.

I follow Alayah to her office, because the two of us will start with the first file. Noah wants to know everything about the residence and the Pack–house and Brock offered to show him around, Nikolay and Nero will join them. Anton will get a crash course in being a Beta and he asked Uncle Josh and his Beta to help him settle into his new role, a role he is determined to fulfill to the best of his abilities.

“I think we need to go to the Archive first or did someone bring you the files already?” I ask as we walk the stairs and she shakes her head, “Can you go to the Archive? I need to call the Elders about relocating those Pack–members.” She answers and after kissing her on her forehead I start walking in the opposite direction, the Archive is situated in the basement of the residence as a precaution.

It takes me a few minutes to find the hidden stairwell, but once I have found it I don’t waste time as I rush down the stairs. I want to find those files and get back to my Mate, something tells me that I am going to need her to calm me and Yuma down. I stare at the door for a moment, “Damn, he wasn’t kidding when he said no one could get to it.” I say to Yuma as I put in the code I made last night and after that I place my index finger from my left hand on the scanner, replacing it with the thumb of my right hand when the screen asks for it. “Please state your name.” a robotic voice says, “Nathan.” I reply and after I hear a soft click, a door slowly
