**Chapter 93: Future Leadership**
**Alayah’s p.o.v.**
As the heavy wooden door of the Pack-house creaked open, Bastian rose to his feet, his posture radiating respect as he prepared to welcome the Elders. I turned my gaze back to Grandpa, my heart racing with anticipation, hoping he would provide clarity to my swirling thoughts. “With three Elders present, an Alpha Ceremony can be held,” he stated, his eyes glinting with wisdom and understanding. I nodded, feeling the weight of the moment settle around us like a thick fog. The minutes ticked by slowly, each second stretching into eternity, until finally, the door swung open once more.
When Bastian returned, my breath caught in my throat. Only one of the Elders bore a scent that was familiar, a rich, musky aroma that belonged to a Lycan. I stood slowly, my curiosity piqued as I studied the other two Elders. “What kind of shifter are you?” I inquired, my voice steady despite the rapid beat of my heart. The female Elder hesitated, her pulse quickening, and finally replied, “I am a Mountain Lion.” The male beside her chimed in, “I am a Grizzly.” I felt a surge of respect for them, but I couldn’t shake the unease that came with their presence.
With a shared glance, the Elders turned to Uncle Josh for confirmation. The moment he nodded, they bowed their heads in deference to me. A shiver ran down my spine at the gesture; it felt too formal, too heavy. “Please, leave that at the door,” I urged, my voice firmer than I felt. The last thing I wanted was to feel burdened by their reverence.
“Alayah, will you tell us what you have decided?” Grandpa’s voice broke through my thoughts, pulling me back to the present. I shifted my gaze to my family, a wave of determination washing over me. “Topaz and I struggled to reach a decision. Accepting the Alpha position means placing a target squarely on my back. If any of the Alphas remember the legacy of the original Alpha bloodline, that target will only grow larger. It also means I will be responsible for addressing a century’s worth of punishments owed to Wolves, Lycans, and other Shifters who have broken our Laws. That’s a monumental task that will consume a significant portion of my time.”
As I spoke, I felt the gravity of my words sink in. The target on my back and the responsibilities ahead were daunting, but they paled in comparison to the suffering and injustices that Wolves, Lycans, and Shifters had endured—some still enduring. I took a deep breath, bolstered by the presence of my Mates and family, who would stand beside me unwaveringly. “So, Topaz and I have decided to claim our rightful place as the Alpha of Blood Stone Pack.” My eyes locked onto Uncle Josh’s, seeking his approval.
Uncle Josh began coordinating with the Elders for the upcoming Alpha Ceremony, while Grandpa leaned in closer, his voice low and filled with anticipation. He informed me of what to expect when Uncle Josh relinquished his role as acting Alpha. “The Pack members will notice immediately that there is a stronger Alpha at the helm,” he assured me, his pride evident.
One of the Elders spoke up, curiosity lacing his tone, “Who will be your Beta and Gamma?” I paused, realizing I still had to approach them with my decision.
