Chapter 50
Hazel’s POV:
1 first asked Alexa to understand the whole situation.
Simply put, the two of them had gotten into conflict with George because of me, then made a bet on marksmanship. Arthur and Caroline happened to arrive then and got involved. The stakes? Whoever lost had to act like a dog.
Now the other side was forcing them to honor their promise.
I naturally knew Dante’s marksmanship wasn’t as good as Arthur’s–this wasn’t his fault.
That Arthur guy, though a lawyer, had learned shooting in school and was a shooting range club member along with Dominic. While Dominic was more of a casual player, Arthur was different–he came to practice his killer instinct, spending all his free time at the shooting range, so his marksmanship was naturally good.
George sneered, his tone insufferably arrogant: “What, are you going to bark like a dog for them?”
I glanced at him without speaking.
This guy hadn’t appeared at the Blood Moon Pack banquet last time, but had obviously heard plenty. From Caroline’s mouth, he’d already decided I was some despicable schemer who climbed up through connections.
In his eyes, I was just a two–faced snake who stepped on Caroline to climb higher.
But before I could speak, Dante suddenly stepped in front of me, his voice cold as ice: “This has nothing to do with my cousin. I agreed to this. I’ll honor the bet.”
I looked at him with some surprise.
He probably sensed me watching him–his cheeks flushed slightly, but he still said resolutely again: “Hazel is my cousin. If anyone’s honoring the bet, it’s me. It has nothing to do with her.”
Alexa also nodded beside him, her attitude firm.
She clearly felt the same way–since I was Karina’s daughter, I was her cousin, and naturally also Dante’s.
A crack–like expression appeared on Arthur’s face as he spoke coldly: “How is she your cousin? Don’t you know what her surname is?”
His reaction was excessively strong–even George couldn’t help but glance at him.
Caroline’s expression was even more subtle, clearly not the first time seeing Arthur like this.
Dante frowned: “I don’t care what her surname is. I only know she’s Blood Moon Pack’s wolf now, our family.”
Honestly, I was somewhat surprised by Dante and Alexa’s acceptance.
Children raised with strict family education in relatively warm family environments were just different. Hazel had saved their

grandmother, could fight, was beautiful, and had now become their aunt’s daughter. If I were them, I’d also be willing to have such a cousin.
Arthur’s expression grew colder: “You’re just siblings without blood relation, yet you protect her like this.”
This comment was obviously loaded with sarcasm.
Caroline’s expression clearly changed upon hearing this.
I frowned and finally couldn’t hold back.
“What kind of double standard are you playing here?” I sneered. “You’ve done illegal things for your ‘adoptive sister,’ and you still have the balls to question my cousin Dante? Calling you a beast would insult actual beasts.”
I deliberately called “Cousin Dante” extra loudly, making Dante’s face turn red.
But I also saw Arthur and Caroline’s expressions–alternating between green and white, like they’d swallowed flies.
They probably hadn’t expected me to speak so directly, so… mercilessly.
A flash of guilt crossed Arthur’s eyes as he looked away, not daring to meet my gaze.
He stubbornly replied: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Caroline’s face had completely darkened as she warned me in a low voice: “Hazel, you’d better not talk nonsense.”
I raised the corner of my lips: “What I want to say is none of your business, is it?”
If they dared to act like mad dogs toward me, I’d have to be madder and more ruthless than them.
Arthur’s tone turned cold: “You should think before you speak. Words come with responsibility.”
I stared at him for two seconds with a look that made him somewhat intimidated.
Then I smiled lightly: “You should be grateful I don’t have time to scold you right now.”
After speaking, I turned my gaze to George: “You made a bet just now?”
George looked at me and arrogantly lifted his chin: “That’s right. Whoever loses barks like a dog.”
Before I could speak, Dante had already said: “A bet’s a bet. I’ll do it.”
