Chapter 59
Hazel’s POV:
I was already used to that kind of peaceful deathly air about her.
“I don’t have many virtues, but keeping my word barely counts as one.” I shrugged.
I never considered myself particularly likeable.
Otherwise, in my previous life in that witch world, I wouldn’t have been chased by a bunch of enemies, with assassins hunting me across the globe.
Fortunately, though I didn’t have many virtues, what I had was enough for survival.
I told her, “I happen to be quite busy lately, and my herb garden needs tending. After we get back, I’ll teach you how to do it. You’ll have your own separate laboratory with complete equipment–you can do whatever you want.”
Her eyes immediately lit up.
Seeing that glimmer in her eyes, I continued with a reminder, “Of course, you can also choose not to stay with me.”
Her name was Lilith, a genius medical student with an almost obsessive dedication to pharmacology, once a rising star in the
medical field.
She had originally developed a new drug, but her mentor stole her research and even turned around to accuse her, claiming she was researching drugs banned by the state. She ended up imprisoned and transferred to Moon Shadow City Prison.
What outsiders didn’t know was that Moon Shadow City Prison appeared to be an ordinary prison on the surface, but actually contained a hidden “prison within a prison.”
That place held “special” criminals.
Genius–type criminals, elite criminals from various industries.
Their crimes weren’t punishable by death, but they were too capable–put together, they became ticking time bombs.
Eccentric personalities, constant trouble–they were the warden’s biggest headache.
But these people couldn’t be handled carelessly. The higher–ups still wanted to fish them out someday–pillars of the nation, worth keeping.
Until I appeared.
“I’ll follow you.” She agreed without hesitation.
I smiled and continued driving. “The largest pharmaceutical company in the werewolf territory should have already reserved
a position for you during your imprisonment. Are you sure you don’t want to reconsider?”
She remained decisive, “I said I’ll follow you.”

Any smile despened.
Neat home, she suddenly asked me. “What have you been bing with lately?”
Janswered. “Variety shows, making money.”
She frowned. “Degrading.”
I said. “Then will you make money to support me?”
She fell silent.
After bringing Lilith back to the villa, everyone didn’t react much.
Like me, she was treated as the master.
However, the Omega maids here were always very tactful–besides cleaning and cooking, they usually didn’t enter my laboratory or herb garden.
I had Lilith stay temporarily.
When she saw the medicinal herbs I grew in my garden, her eyes lit up.
The oppressive, deathly aura around her instantly seemed dispelled by sunlight.
“Can I do research?” she asked.
I nodded, “Of course.”
Unexpectedly, these two words of mine later became the beginning of her becoming an expert in traditional medicine cultivation and pharmacology that various countries would compete to poach.
With Lilith taking care of the herb garden, I finally freed up time to join the recording of “Beyond Space–Time Esports.”
This esports variety show had a recording period of half a month, during which I’d have to stay in the hotel arranged by the production team.
Rowan arranged a very reliable assistant for me named Chill.
She was a round–faced, short–haired girl who looked soft and cute but was efficient in her work.
I had her send Vince a message, explaining Xander Wentworth’s situation and reminding him to wait until I finished my work for a follow–up consultation.
Looking at my message history, the previous message was one Vincent had sent me yesterday.
As soon as I sent my message, he immediately replied:
“Okay.”
Then after a moment, he added:
