Chapter 106: A Gaping Empty Wound

Phoebe’s Perspective

A sudden chill ran through me as Reginald’s piercing gaze locked onto mine. My body stiffened involuntarily, and I swallowed with difficulty—the motion sharp and painful. I shouldn’t have come back to this room. I should have stayed hidden in the omega quarters, found some way to slip away from this pack’s suffocating grasp.

Or… maybe I should have figured out a way to end this pregnancy.

I didn’t want Kevin’s child growing inside me.

Every time I thought of him, my stomach twisted into tight, painful knots. The very idea that his blood flowed through the life forming within me made my skin crawl.

“You’re pregnant.” Reginald spun me around abruptly, his eyes boring into mine with an intensity that felt like ice. “If there’s a child inside you, it’s Kevin’s.” His tone wasn’t a question—it was a cold, hard fact.

Though I couldn’t read Reginald’s thoughts, the danger radiating from him was unmistakable, pulsing in waves that threatened to crush me.

“Please, let me go. I won’t cause you any trouble,” I begged, desperation lacing my voice.

I shook my head wildly, pleading, “I’ll stay quiet. I’ll do whatever you want.” The words tasted bitter, like ash on my tongue—another desperate plea for survival, just as I had begged Kevin before.

That heavy weight pressed down on my chest again. Here I was, trapped in a nightmare loop, begging for mercy from a different monster.

I barely knew Reginald, but the rumors painted him just like Kevin—another predator who took whatever he desired without remorse.

“Please, I’ll do anything—”

Pain exploded through my abdomen before I could finish. Instinctively, I looked down and saw Reginald’s hand plunged deep into me, his claws sinking cruelly into my flesh.

“Perfect. Now die,” he snarled, his voice stripped of any warmth or hesitation. No mercy, no second thoughts.

To him, both the baby and I were threats to be wiped away.

He wouldn’t allow his carefully laid plans to crumble, not after all he had sacrificed.

Reginald had killed Kevin to leave Alpha Sterling without an heir.

But if Sterling learned I carried Kevin’s child, everything would unravel. The old alpha would pour all his strength into raising that baby.

“Not on my watch.” Reginald yanked his hand free, and I collapsed, blood pooling beneath me from the deep, gaping wound.

My body convulsed violently, struggling to heal itself, but slowly giving in to the inevitable.

The metallic scent of blood filled the air, thick and suffocating.

Now Reginald faced the grim task of cleaning up his mess before anyone stumbled upon the scene.

My consciousness drifted in and out like the ebb and flow of a restless tide.

Sometimes I surfaced in someone’s arms—though their identity remained hazy—feeling a strange mixture of comfort and deep sorrow in those brief moments.
