Marked By The Mad King Alpha (Phoebe and Perry) novel Chapter 170

Perry’s POV

The day had finally arrived for me to set off southward, accompanied by thousands of my warriors, with Timothy by my side. The air was thick with anticipation, and the weight of responsibility pressed heavily on my shoulders.

Timothy had certainly earned himself a proper thrashing for sharing those scandalous videos with Phoebe. Despite my anger, I couldn’t bring myself to completely extinguish his life; after all, I still needed him around. A few solid kicks had helped me alleviate some of the frustration I felt toward my royal gamma.

“Next time you pull a stunt like that, I won’t hesitate to aim lower,” I had warned him after our little altercation, but Timothy merely flashed a cheeky grin.

“If I manage to drag myself out of bed, you might just have to leave me behind for this battle,” he shot back, his tone laced with a mix of bravado and mischief.

His cocky attitude could be infuriating at times, yet I found it hard to stay mad at him. He had vowed to refrain from sending her any more of those videos, though I could see the gears turning in his mind as he plotted his next scheme, likely involving some book or another.

“I’ll be careful,” I reassured Phoebe for what felt like the hundredth time. Leaning down, I pressed my lips against hers, savoring the sweetness that lingered on my tongue. “Don’t fret about me. Just focus on your studies.”

But studying was the last thing on Phoebe’s mind. Her thoughts were consumed by the dangers I would face, making it nearly impossible for her to concentrate on anything else. She wrapped her arms around me with a fierce intensity, as if trying to anchor me to her. I could feel her desperation; she longed to hold me until the last moment, hoping against hope that I would stay behind while the others left. But we both knew that was just a fantasy.

Timothy tapped her shoulder, pulling her attention away from me.

“Mind if I steal your mate for a few weeks? Maybe a month? We need to get moving,” he said, a grin plastered on his face.

Sally, however, did not share his enthusiasm. She scribbled furiously in her notebook and held it up for him to see.

Timothy leaned down to read her scrawl. “Hey, between us, I’m the one who needs protection. If the enemy can take him down, what chance do I have?” He raised his eyebrows, feigning offense at whatever she had written.

Phoebe looked like she wanted to smack him, but she restrained herself.

“Don’t you worry about me too?” she asked, her voice tinged with frustration.

“Of course not,” he replied, a smirk on his lips. His eyes narrowed, clearly annoyed by her quick retort.

“Alright, we’re leaving now.” I interjected, cutting through their banter before Phoebe wasted her precious moments arguing instead of focusing on me. “Go do a final check.”

“Already done,” Timothy protested, but I wasn’t having any of it.

“Do it again.”

“What?” His incredulous expression made it clear he hadn’t expected my insistence.

Something in my glare must have gotten through to him because, after a moment of hesitation, the royal gamma finally relented and left us alone. He grumbled as he walked away, but I hardly cared.

“Stay safe, and steer clear of the elders,” I cautioned her, my voice low and serious. I had little trust for those old bastards. Once I sorted out this mess, they would be next on my list. I had plans simmering in the back of my mind to deal with them.
