Marked By The Mad King Alpha (Phoebe and Perry) novel Chapter 196

**Chapter 196: The Mad Kings**

**Surrender**

**Perry’s POV**

“I want to slaughter every last one of them.” My eyes clenched shut, the darkness behind my lids a stark contrast to the tempest raging within. I focused all my energy on my mate, that single thread of connection that tethered me to sanity, fighting against the tidal wave of murderous rage threatening to engulf me. Without her, I knew I would spiral into chaos, a whirlwind of violence and bloodshed that would leave nothing but destruction in its wake.

The whispers of my past echoed in my mind, reminding me why they called me the Mad King. I had been too lenient, too forgiving, allowing these traitors to believe they could conspire against me without facing the consequences of their treachery.

As I immersed myself in thoughts of their betrayal, the flames of fury within me blazed hotter, my body trembling with barely contained violence. I could feel Phoebe’s arms tightening around me, her instinctual response to the storm brewing inside me.

She didn’t know the specifics of what had transpired, but she could sense the danger lurking beneath the surface, and that knowledge was a harbinger of trouble for everyone involved.

Her gentle hands began tracing soothing patterns across my back, each stroke a silent plea for calmness. Soft kisses peppered the top of my head, her warmth a balm against the cold fury that threatened to consume me.

I could feel her fear, a palpable thing, and I knew she was terrified that I might do something catastrophic in this state of rage. She had every right to worry, given my history of letting anger dictate my actions.

When the tension coiling in my muscles refused to dissipate, Phoebe cupped my face in her small hands, compelling me to meet her gaze. Her eyes, filled with concern and love, drew me back from the precipice. She leaned in, capturing my lips in a tender kiss, a moment of connection that momentarily soothed the storm within. But as she pulled back, her voice broke through the silence.

“What happened? Please, tell me.” Her words were laced with urgency, and she brushed another gentle kiss across the tip of my nose. I exhaled shakily, her touch helping to redirect my focus from bloodlust back to her, my mate.

“Some bastard at the border let Valerium warriors slip through—that’s how they got here. We don’t know their numbers yet, but they’re definitely planning to unleash chaos. Elder Tricia discovered who’s responsible, but I’m certain there are more conspirators lurking in the shadows.”

I leaned into her palm as her thumb caressed my cheek, the maddening gentleness of her touch a stark contrast to the rage boiling inside me.

“I want to eliminate them all. Wipe them from existence.”

“You’ll kill innocent people.” Her voice was steady, but I could see the flicker of fear in her eyes.

“So what?” I snapped, the words escaping my lips like venom.

Phoebe’s expression twisted with disgust at my callousness, and I felt a low growl rumble in my chest. I had anticipated this reaction, yet it only fueled my irritation.

“It’s worth the cost,” I insisted, my voice cold and unyielding.

She shook her head firmly, a resolute look in her eyes. “No, don’t do that.”

I felt irritation flare through me like a wildfire, and in a moment of impulse, I shot to my feet, compelling her to rise as well. I fixed her with a cold stare, the intensity of my emotions swirling dangerously close to the surface.

“Why should I give a damn? I’ll throw them all to the wild wolves. It’s been too long since the pack had a proper feast.”
