Marked By The Mad King Alpha (Phoebe and Perry) novel Chapter 210

**TITLE: His Mercy Tastes Like Hunger**
**Chapter 210**
**Blood and Tides**

**Phoebe’s POV**

My gaze locked onto the intruder, a chilling sense of dread coursing through me as I refused to blink. The creature advanced with deliberate steps, its confidence palpable, as if it reveled in the knowledge that I was utterly isolated and powerless to call for help.

Desperation clawed at my insides as I frantically scanned the room, searching for anything—anything at all—that I could wield as a weapon. But deep down, I knew that my chances of surviving a direct confrontation with this beast were nearly nonexistent.

My only glimmer of hope lay in the presence of Samuel and Justin, who were positioned just outside my door, unaware of the danger lurking within. But how could I possibly reach them?

With a racing heart, I slipped out of bed, my back pressing against the wall as I edged toward the flower vase that sat precariously on the dresser. The moment the creature lunged at me, I seized the vase and hurled it with all my might, then dashed towards the bathroom as adrenaline surged through my veins.

I slammed the door shut just as the beast reached me, the sound of its claws scraping against the wood sending chills down my spine. I turned the lock with trembling hands, my heart pounding like a war drum.

On the other side of the door, I could hear Samuel and Justin shouting my name, their voices filled with urgency and concern.

“My queen! Are you okay? What’s happening in there?!”

Samuel’s voice cracked with worry, and when another loud crash echoed through the room, I could sense his patience snapping like a fragile thread. “I’m coming in!” he declared, determination lacing his words.

Almost immediately, the sounds of battle erupted from my bedroom as Samuel and Justin confronted the intruder. The fierce snarls and furious roars filled the air, causing my body to tremble uncontrollably. I pressed my back against the door, wrapping my arms around myself as I prayed fervently for the fight to end soon.

Hope flickered within me, ignited by the belief that Samuel and Justin, with their combined strength, would emerge victorious. After all, they had the numbers on their side.

Then, a thunderous howl of agony pierced through the chaos. Even through the door, I could feel the weight of the creature’s suffering. But who was in pain? Was it the intruder? Samuel? Or Justin? The uncertainty gnawed at me, a relentless tide of fear.

**Joe cradled Upton’s lifeless form, tears streaming down his face, a twin’s grief overwhelming him.** He doubled over, releasing a heart-wrenching roar that echoed across the battlefield, a sound of pure, unadulterated anguish.

Upton’s body continued to bleed out where one of the royal warriors had struck a fatal blow, a crimson pool spreading beneath him, his healing powers proving futile against the mortal wound.

“No! No! NO! NOT MY BROTHER!” Joe’s sobs resonated through the chaos, yet Upton was not the only warrior who had fallen that day.

Fiona sat motionless on the sand, paralyzed by the carnage surrounding her. The slaughter was overwhelming, a nightmare brought to life, and the weight of it threatened to crush her spirit.

They had to move swiftly, urgency pressing upon them like a heavy shroud, before reinforcements arrived. This desperate fight for survival had exacted a terrible toll, yet they had managed to eliminate every royal warrior sent after them. Still, they knew they couldn’t withstand another assault if backup came.

Fiona approached Reginald, who stood frozen, his gaze fixed on the setting sun, the last remnants of daylight casting an eerie glow over the battlefield. He remained perfectly still, having just witnessed his mother die in a valiant attempt to protect him.
