Marked By The Mad King Alpha (Phoebe and Perry) novel Chapter 212

**His Mercy Tastes Like Hunger**
**Chapter 212: A Dangerous New Life**

**Phoebe’s POV**

For the past few days, an unsettling feeling had settled over me like a heavy fog. Mornings were particularly cruel, bringing with them waves of dizziness that swayed my balance and nausea that churned in my stomach, relentless and unwelcome. But what truly signaled something was amiss was the absence of my period. Late. Alarmingly late.

After Perry had left, his departure marked by a hurried glance back, I felt a knot tighten in my chest. He was too afraid to turn around, fearing he’d rush back to me, and I couldn’t let that happen. It was then that Justin’s familiar voice broke through my thoughts as he poked his head through the bedroom door.

“Ready, my queen?” His tone was laced with urgency, a stark contrast to the chaotic thoughts swirling in my mind as I scribbled furiously in my notebook.

I need to see Marcela first.

“The order says you leave immediately,” he reminded me, his brow furrowing with concern.

I pressed my lips together, feeling the weight of my discomfort. I don’t feel well. I need Marcela to check me.

A deep line of worry etched itself across Justin’s face. “The king doesn’t know about this?” His voice sharpened, a hint of panic creeping in. If Perry had been aware, he would have summoned Marcela without hesitation.

I shook my head vehemently. Don’t tell him. Today is crucial for him. I can’t burden his mind with my troubles—it would shatter his focus when he needed it most for the impending battle.

Justin’s eyes darted to my notebook, reading my frantic notes, his expression a mix of conflict and concern. “Stay here. I’ll bring Marcela to you.”

That was a far better solution than dragging me to the infirmary and causing further delays. He quickly mindlinked a warrior, and before long, Marcela appeared, her presence bringing a flicker of hope amid my anxiety.

Once Justin stepped out, informing the others that my departure would be postponed, the room fell into a heavy silence that echoed with the sound of my rapidly beating heart.

“How is it?” My voice was barely a whisper, thick with anxiety as I fought to suppress the rising tide of fear. Every possible outcome flashed through my mind like a chaotic slideshow, but deep down, I already knew the truth.

I could feel it.

“Phoebe, you’re pregnant.” Marcela’s breathless confirmation hung in the air like a fragile promise.

Her expression was a tapestry of emotions—she addressed me by name, a gesture that felt intimate, reminding me that she was the only real female friend I had in this tumultuous world. She was the one I had learned to trust again after enduring so much pain.

Are you certain? Really?

I felt a swell of warmth fill my heart as my hand instinctively found its way to my still-flat belly. A life was growing inside me, a beautiful testament to the love Perry and I had created together. This was mine—a child I would cherish completely, who would love me back in ways I had only dared to dream. I had yearned for this moment for what felt like an eternity.

This baby was mine.

Even as the knowledge settled in my heart, a wave of happiness surged through me, threatening to overflow.
